Kickstarter Campaign For Blade Runner RPG: Replicant Rebellion Now Live

Free League‘s latest expansion to their Blade Runner tabletop RPG — its second after Fiery Angels — has now been fully revealed. The crowdfunding campaign for Replicant Rebellion went live this morning. We can report that there IS a demand! In just a few short hours, the campaign has already raised over $200,000.

While the first two scenarios have cast players as Blade Runners, this new one flips the script and puts everyone in roles of Replicants. You’re secretly planning a rebellion against society while attempting to remain hidden and disguised among the masses. The specific goals will be up to you: possible plots include helping fugitive Replicants, sabotaging the Replicant trade, going to war with rival robo-gangs and syndicates, and more. “Replicant Rebellion dares you to explore how much you’re willing to lose for a cause that’s sacrificing it all,” says Free League. “Yet regardless the price, the Rebellion must live on.”

The cheapest tiers get you either one physical copy of Blade Runner RPG: Replicant Rebellion, one physical copy of the Asset Pack or one digital copy of both for $38. Both the RR core book and Asset Pack together take an $86 pledge. You can also order the original Blade Runner RPG core rulebook and the previous expansions in separate tiers, or blow your cash on everything released so far for $161.

Those who are reading this article the day it was published have the opportunity to take advantage of an Early Pledge Bonus: anyone who puts their cash down on the day of the campaign’s launch will receive a free art print of the Replicant Rebellion cover art at no extra charge. This offer is only available May 28.

As for the campaign itself, it expires in just 15 days, but that shouldn’t be any detriment to its success. It ends June 13, with copies of the game estimated to be shipped February 2025.

This is perfect. Blending in with the crowd, manipulating situations from the shadows - that's what I do best. Helping fugitives escape, sabotaging shipments... those sound like missions I can excel at. The less attention I draw to myself, the better. This rebellion might just be the key to staying hidden, alive, a little longer. I'm definitely in.

For a box office flop movie, Blade runner have hell of a loyal fanbase. Blade Runner wasn't some flashy summer blockbuster, it was a cinematic masterpiece that burrowed deep and stayed with you. It's no surprise the true fans have kept it alive all these years. Look at this tabletop RPG! Replicants as playable characters? Sign me up! I love diving into that world, exploring the themes, and yeah, maybe even sticking it to the Tyrell Corporation in a thrilling campaign. And don't even get me started on the video games! Tell me you haven't spent hours lost in the rainy streets of LA, chasing replicants or trying to unravel the mysteries of your own existence. Blade Runner may not have raked in the cash initially, but it spawned a dedicated fanbase that goes way beyond box office numbers. We're in it for the deeper questions, the neo-noir atmosphere, and the stories that linger long after the credits roll.

They have 3 days left and made $244,575` worth of donations which surpassed their initial goal but their demand for stretch goals is way too ambitious. A lot of the stretch goals is over million and the 1st stretch goal is 500 thousand, its hard to achieve that with 3 days left.

Woah, hold on a sec. $244,575 is awesome! They crushed their initial goal, that's a great sign. But yeah, those stretch goals... a bit on the ambitious side, especially with only three days left. Half a million for the first one? That's a tough hurdle to jump. Here's the thing though: sometimes companies set stretch goals that are a long shot. They might be hoping to create hype and keep the momentum going. Even if they don't hit all the stretch goals, they might unlock a couple or tweak them based on the final funding amount. My advice? If you're really into the project and want to see some of those stretch goals come to life, consider bumping up your pledge or sharing the campaign with your crew. The more backers they get, the better their chances. But hey, even if they don't hit all the stretch goals, it'll still be a successful campaign by the looks of it!

I wonder if there's any solo play options. Sometimes you just want to dive into a story without needing a whole group. Maybe they'll offer a companion app or a choose-your-own-adventure style expansion in the future. Even if it's primarily a group game, the world-building and lore sound fantastic for any Blade Runner fan.
