Is Sledgehammer Games making Modern Warfare 4?

It’s no secret that Sledgehammer Games, co-developer of 2012’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, is working on a new Call of Duty title. Job listings have been popping up all over the web since early February, including Gamasutra, and more recently LinkedIn. However, given the context of Call of Duty: Ghosts’ reveal a week ago, we’re baffled as to what it is Sledgehammer is currently recruiting for.

When Activision came forward to confirm the existence of Ghosts, days after Tesco prematurely listed the product online, the studio sent a congratulatory Tweet to Infinity Ward that proves Glen Schofield and his crew are not supporting the game’s production:

So with a reformed IW readying Ghosts for November and Treyarch showing no signs of abandoning Black Ops, what on Earth is this “next project”? Could it be Modern Warfare 4? It’s a logical deduction in our eyes, bearing in mind Modern Warfare 3 was Sledgehammer’s last title, and we can’t see Activision killing-off or replacing such a successful series without some sort of formal announcement…
