Iam8bit and Nano Park Studios have announced Petal Runner at Day of the Devs. It\’s a slice-of-life RPG about a courier delivering virtual pets to people powered by flowers, down to 8-bit pixel art.
In some ways, it\’s the gaming equivalent of a weighted blanket or the world\’s largest cup of cocoa. It almost feels as if it heads towards dangerous levels of coziness. Take a look at the trailer below, if you doubt us.
Presented as a unique take on cyberpunk-inspired worlds, Petal Runner features Cali and Kira, who are training to be couriers. The story is about growing up as they travel and make friends in the city of Sapphire Valley.

Considering that Kira is an older model than the HanaPets, the team aims to capture the special feeling of companionship that comes with owning pets. It will be interesting to see what stories erupt between Cali\’s clients and these adorable creatures.
Petal Runner looks like it can be Nano Park\’s deepest game yet, showing off their retro gaming skills as both the game and its label will appear under iam8bit Presents.

Petal Runner comes from Nano Park Studios, consisting of Danny Guo and Brandon James Greer, who also runs a popular YouTube channel about pixel art. Here is a man who clearly knows how to make a very tiny square look very nice. PetRun casts you as a motorcycle courier for the titular Petal Runners. You play as Cali, joined by a little fox pal who follows you around. I’m a little wary of foxes as someone who wanted a fennec for years before researching the absolute hell they’re like to live with, but I can deal with a digi-fox.
