“Hyper Knife” is a 2025 Korean drama series, with 8 episodes, and categorized as Medical Drama, Crime, and Thriller; streaming on Disney+/Hulu.
SUMMARY: A young brain surgeon was being mentored by an experienced brain surgeon but their professional work relationship ended badly. The mentor made sure that the young surgeon lost her medical license and could not practice anywhere. To the young surgeon that was like the death penalty. So she performed illegal surgeries. Hey! Got to make a living!
♦ It’s All About Survival
In “Hyper Knife”, Jung Se-Ok was a brilliant brain surgeon. She was a genius and Choi Deok-Hee took her under his wings to mentor her. They were almost like hand and glove. A gifted surgeon like her should mature and develop into their fullest potential. But one day he did something in the operating room that Choi Deok-Hee believed a UNFORGIVABLE. Not only was it unforgivable, but Jung Se-Ok refused to admit that she had done anything wrong.
That was it for two of them! Their professional work relationship was OVER! Choi Deok-Hee told her she would never et foot in an operating room ever again! NEVER????????? Jung Se-Ok was shattered. Her entire life was wrapped up in being a brain surgeon. Not allowing her to operate is the same as a death sentence. How can she go on living? Eh! She found a way.
Life carries on and did you know there are lot of people who need surgery, but they go a legitimate hospital? They have their reasons for not wanting to go to a real hospital like … maybe they’re criminals and they might get arrested. Performing illegal surgeries IS A BOOMING BUSINESS! Jung Se-Ok lost her medical license but she had no problem finding “work”. In addition to performing illegal surgeries, she ran a pharmacy. One must give her A++ for ambition and industriousness. The girl knew how to survive!
Since their professional relationship ended badly, Choi Deok-Hee had lost contact with her. But he tracked her down. He found out the police were after her and he needed to get to her first. Not because he wanted to give her a heads-up so she could get out of town. No. It was personal. He needed brain surgery and the ONLY person he trusted to carry out the operation successfully was Jung Se-Ok. Even he was willing to undergo illegal surgery!
WHOA! Talk about the tables being turned. Choi Deok-Hee wanted her to take a scalpel to his brain? He told he that he knew the police were closing in on her illegal operations and he could help her escape the law. You mean he could pull some strings and she won’t have to go to jail? Of course, with that “carrot” dangling in front of her, it was easy for Jung Se-Ok to answer him. She didn’t even need time to think it over. Her answer was … DIE!!
Jung Se-Ok is clearly not the type who quickly forgives and forgets.

Viewership and Rating:
- IMDb: 8.3 of 10 stars
- My Drama List: 8.2 out of 10 stars
- Dramabeans: 9 out of 10 stars
- NME: 4 of 5 stars
My personal rating is the same as NME.
“Hyper Knife” is about a genius brain surgeon who is crazy with a capital K! WOW! Talk about a transformation. Park Eun-bin went from being a genius attorney with autism (in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”) TO a genius surgeon who’s a PSYCHO! It’s OK if she’s my lawyer. But there’s no way I’d let her near my brain with a scalpel! LOL. Park Eun-bin is an exceptional actress. Kudos to her!
