Hulu Announces FOUR Marvel Animated Comedies
The old king is dead, long live the king. The recent trend of adult-oriented Marvel dramas on Netflix will soon be replaced by….adult-oriented Marvel comedy cartoons on Hulu. Can’t say we saw that one coming.
Yes, soon you’ll be able to see Howard the Duck, MODOK, Hit-Monkey and Dazzler in their own separate shows. Perhaps they will join forces eventually in a fifth series called “The Offenders.” But at the moment, here are Marvel’s official descriptions for each series, beginning with MODOK:
• M.O.D.O.K. centers around an egomaniacal supervillain with a really big head and a really little body, who struggles to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family. Writers Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt will also executive produce.
Sounds like fun. Moving on….
• Hit-Monkey tells the tale of a wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin, as he cuts a wide swath through the Tokyo underworld in this darkly cinematic and brutally funny revenge saga. Writers Josh Gordon and Will Speck will executive produce.
It’s already better than Iron Fist. Now the third…..
• Tigra & Dazzler Show is a story about two woke superheroes and best friends, Tigra and Dazzler, as they fight for recognition among powered people who make up the eight million stories in Los Angeles. Writers Erica Rivinoja and Chelsea Handler serve as executive producers.
Like….that Chelsea Handler? The description does sound like the kind of thing she’d be attracted to. And for #4….
• Howard the Duck is trapped in a world he never made, but America’s favorite fighting fowl hopes to return home with the help of his unstoppable gal pal Beverly before the evil Dr. Bong can turn him the crispiest dish on the menu. Writers Kevin Smith and Dave Willis will also executive produce.
It is definitely that Kevin Smith. Even if he’s unfamiliar with Howard, which is extremely unlikely, you would have him at a character named “Dr. Bong.”
Look for these shows to appear soon on —wait, there’s a fifth announcement I missed.
Finally, nobody asked them to, and we’d be better off if they didn’t, but M.O.D.O.K., Dazzler, Tigra, Hit Monkey and Howard the Duck are all forced to team up in order to save the world and certain parts of the Universe in “Marvel’s The Offenders.” Jeph Loeb serves as Executive Producer, while writers and additional Executive Producers for the project will be announced at a later point.
That’s…actually happening? I legitimately missed this and wrote it above as a joke, honest. They were way ahead of me.
Look for these shows to appear soon on Hulu…no release date was announced for any of them.
