Here’s When Your Favorite CW Shows Start This Fall
The CW has released its schedule for the first month of programming come the Fall of 2018. If you want to know when some of your favorite superhero shows are returning (I mean, there are 75% odds that it’s got a superhero in it), here’s the info.
The new season officially begins October 7. We’re not sure why The CW always waits until October to start airing premieres, but they’re doing it again. In fact this schedule offers up a lot of “why” questions, beginning with the unlisted special that kicks off the season AND their Sunday Evening lineup: the iHeartRadio Music Festival. Kids love the radio these days, I guess.
TUESDAY, OCT. 9
8 pm The Flash
9 pm Black Lightning
Note that “Season Premiere” isn’t listed for either of these, like it is everywhere else. Does that mean these are reruns or is it just a typo? The answer will come in four months.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 10
8 pm Riverdale (season premiere)
9 pm ALL AMERICAN (series premiere)
THURSDAY, OCT. 11
8 pm Supernatural (season premiere)
9 pm ALL AMERICAN (premiere encore)
It’s also common practice for The CW to delay the premieres of some shows so they can air encores of other shows. Usually these shows are brand new, hence the strategy to give them as much exposure as possible.
FRIDAY, OCT. 12
8 pm Dynasty (season premiere)
9 pm Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (final season premiere)
SUNDAY, OCT. 14
8 pm Supergirl (season premiere)
9 pm CHARMED (series premiere)
MONDAY, OCT. 15
8 pm Arrow (season premiere)
Was anyone asking for two hours of Mopey Ollie? The CW has a lot of good shows with truncated seasons, but they NEVER cut Arrow down no matter how bad the show gets.
THURSDAY, OCT. 18
8 pm Supernatural (new episode)
9 pm CHARMED (premiere encore)
MONDAY, OCT. 22
8 pm Arrow (new episode)
9 pm DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (season premiere)
Now that makes me worried: pairing the darkest, dullest Berlantiverse episode with the brightest and funnest. Worst yet, the fun one has to go second. They are both DC superhero shows so they’re guaranteed to get renewed again next season, but still.
THURSDAY, OCT. 25
8 pm Supernatural (new episode)
9 pm LEGACIES (series premiere)
The fall’s final premiere is a new series set in the Vampire Diaries/Originals universe. For those who like that kind of thing, this is exactly the kind of thing they will like.
The 100 and iZombie have been held for midseason like usual, but so has Jane the Virgin (its final season is confirmed to be its last) and a new take on The WB’s Roswell show.
