Hegemony 3 Gets New Update

Hegemony 3 Gets New Update

Independent game developer Longbow Games has released the second major expansion to their tactical grand strategy game Hegemony III: Clash of the Ancients. Building on the series’ lauded logistical mechanics, this major free update adds a new level of city management that allows players to balance the goodwill of their citizens against the great costs of building an empire.

The update has a number of key features including:

  • New economic controls allow players to set the tax, recruitment and rationing rates for individual cities based on the morale of their residents.
  • Overhauled raider/rebellion system allows for rebel forces to breakaway from discontented cities to raid the countryside or form into larger forces intent on retaking their homes.
  • New territory system merges nearby cities, camps and farms into large resource hubs that share food and wood and can be garrisoned by a common territorial force.
  • New ‘Companions’ unit and objective chain provide an elite unit tailored to each faction group that grows and strengthens alongside the player’s empire.
  • Extensive new tips, tutorials and in-game help articles introduce novice players to both new and old mechanics.
  • Plus dozens of minor patches, optimizations and balance adjustments.

Hegemony III is a single-player tactical grand strategy game set during the founding years of the Roman Republic. Playing either as Rome or one of its many ancient rivals, players command armies and manage resources to capture territory and build an empire. Based in Toronto, Canada, developer Longbow Games is an independent game developer founded in 1998 by the late Seumas McNally creator of DX-Ball 2 and Tread Marks. The Hegemony series began with Hegemony: Philip of Macedon, Hegemony Gold: Wars of Ancient Greece, and more recently Hegemony Rome: The Rise of Caesar.
