GWENT: The Witcher Card Game Ending Closed Beta Registrations This Weekend
CD Projekt RED officially announced this week that open registrations for the Closed Beta phase of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game will shut down this weekend. A new Challenge Finals trailer was also released, which you can check out in the player below.
The game is set to remain active for all players who were able to redeem their beta invite before or during the weekend. Players can still join the Closed Beta if they sign up on playgwent.com.
Speaking on the news, Development Director Benjamin Lee stated: “Throughout Closed Beta, we’ve reworked and added a huge amount of features and mechanics to GWENT. Balance changes, numerous tweaks of how cards work and how the game flows; additional cards, a new faction and ranked play — it was an amazing ride and GWENT’s community was with us all the way. I’d like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the hours invested.
The good news about this is that GWENT is moving toward its Public Beta test. So the end of the registrations marks a move toward that eventual goal. CD Projekt RED will reveal more details on that stage sometime next week.
Regarding the Challenger tournament finals, on May 13 winners of the GWENT Challenger community qualifiers will be able to compete with some professional gamers. They include Jeffrey “Trump” Shih, Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy, Peter “ppd” Dager, and Kacem “Noxious” Khilaji. They will be competing for a piece of the $100,000 prize pool. The finals of GWENT Challenger tournament will be streamed live starting at 3PM CEST on CD Projekt RED’s official Twitch channel.
