Goat Got Game: Sony’s New Animated Film Has Serious Bounce!

Get Ready to Roooaaar! Sony Pictures Animation Unleashes “Goat”

Sony Pictures Animation, fresh off the web-slinging success of the Spider-Verse films and the fierce beats of KPOP: Demon Hunters, is about to drop another animated gem, and this one’s got serious bounce! Get ready for “Goat,” a film that proves even the shortest kid can dream big on the court. And who better to help shepherd this project than NBA superstar Stephen Curry, stepping from the hardwood to the producer’s chair?

At the heart of this antromorphic athletic adventure is Will Harris, voiced by the ever-talented Caleb McLaughlin (yes, he’s still got that Stranger Things charm!). Will’s a teenage Boer goat with a giant dream: he wants to become a professional roarball player. What’s roarball, you ask? It’s what they call basketball in a world where animals dribble, dunk, and defy gravity. There’s just one tiny snag: Will, bless his woolly heart, seriously lacks height. He practically needs a step ladder to reach the cookie jar, let alone the rim!

But a little thing like gravity won’t stop Will. He worships Jett Fillmore, a legendary black panther roarball player voiced by the magnificent Gabrielle Union. Jett, once the undisputed queen of the court and currently the “Face of the Thorns” (that’s her team, folks!), proves that agility and sheer will can conquer all. And in this progressive world, team sports are wonderfully coed – because talent knows no gender, only hustle!

The All-Star Roarball Roster: A Menagerie of Talent!

Who else is bringing the noise to the roarball court? The voice cast is an absolute slam dunk, sorted by the sheer (or tiny) size of their animal counterparts:

  • Caleb McLaughlin (our protagonist!) takes on Will Harris, a teenage Boer goat. He might be small, but his heart for roarball is colossal!
  • The legendary Jenifer Lewis lends her iconic voice to Florence Everson, the Thorns’ owner and a blond-haired warthog. Don’t let the tusks fool you, she runs a tight, surprisingly agile, ship.
  • Gabrielle Union brings her magnificent voice to Jett Fillmore, the former greatest roarball player of all time, a sleek black panther. She’s all about speed, grace, and an unstoppable purr-formance.
  • Nick Kroll brings his unique comedic genius to Modo Olachenko, a fire-breathing Komodo dragon roarball player with a delightful Russian accent. He might not be the tallest, but he’s certainly got a fiery presence!
  • Nicola Coughlan (from Bridgerton fame!) gives us Olivia Burke, an ostrich roarball player. With those long, powerful legs, we’re betting she’s got some serious court coverage.
  • David Harbour (our favorite gruff hero) steps into the colossal shoes of Archie Everhardt, a massive black rhinoceros roarball player. Get ready for some serious, unstoppable charges to the basket.
  • And, of course, Stephen Curry himself isn’t just producing; he’s getting in on the vocal action as Lenny Williamson, a towering giraffe player. We’re hoping for some hilarious long-necked dunks that defy logic!

With voices provided for unidentified but unquestionably amazing roles by Ayesha Curry, Andrew Santino, Bobby Lee, Sherry Cola, Eduardo Franco, Aaron Pierre, Jennifer Hudson, and Jelly Roll, the talent keeps coming. We can’t wait to see what animal they will next portray! “Goat” promises to be humorous, touching, and completely unforgettable story about pursuing your goals regardless of your level of vertical challenge. Goat will prove its the Greatest of all time this coming February 13, 2026

This sounds like something I’ll definitely take my kids to see. My youngest is pretty short for his age, and he loves basketball. I think he’ll really connect with Will the goat. I’m also happy to hear it’s coed – sports movies often leave out girls unless they’re on the sidelines. Seeing someone like Jett Fillmore, a female player that kids can look up to, voiced by Gabrielle Union, makes me feel excited for what this could mean for little girls too. I also like that it looks fun and silly, while also encouraging kids to dream big even if the odds are against them.

I’m more into animals than movies, but this sounds really funny and interesting to me. I love how they’re matching animal abilities with their sports roles. Like ostriches being fast and giraffes having reach. That’s smart design. I also think using animals can help kids learn a bit about them, even in a silly way. I hope they show some teamwork and not just one goat doing everything.

Honestly? At this point, Sony Pictures Animation is doing what Disney used to do best — take risks and actually try new things. Between the Spider-Verse films and now this “Goat” movie, Sony’s showing they’re not afraid to get weird, specific, and stylish. Meanwhile, Disney's recent animated stuff feels stuck in safe mode. Same formula, different princess. “Goat” looks way more creative than anything Disney has dropped in the last few years. The cast is diverse, the premise is odd in a good way, and they’re using the medium to do something that couldn’t be live-action. Isn’t that what animation is supposed to be about? I never thought I’d say this, but right now, Sony is running circles around Disney in the animation game.

I just finished watching KPOP: Demon Hunters and honestly? Sony is eating Disney’s lunch at this point. I grew up watching everything Disney released, but lately, their original movies feel flat and corporate. They either rely too much on sequels or keep playing it safe with forgettable new concepts. Meanwhile, Sony is taking risks and making stories that feel fresh—Spider-Verse was proof of that, and KPOP: Demon Hunters just confirmed it. It had energy, a distinct style, and characters that didn’t feel like they were cooked up by a boardroom.

Disney used to be the pioneer of animated storytelling, but now they seem stuck chasing nostalgia or trying too hard to match trends. Sony, on the other hand, is tapping into younger generations in a more natural way. Their animation style is evolving, their music choices are sharp, and they’re letting diverse voices tell the stories. KPOP didn’t feel like it was trying to tick diversity boxes—it just was cool, confident, and fun.

At this point, I’m more excited about Sony’s next original than whatever new IP Disney is cooking up. Unless it’s a sequel, I don’t really trust Disney to make something memorable anymore.

I’ve seen a lot of animated movies over the years, and this one reminds me a little of the older sports comedies we used to get in the 90s, except now it’s all animals. I appreciate that it’s not just for kids though. The cast is clearly chosen with a wide audience in mind. And I’m glad to see Stephen Curry taking his career in new directions. Producing an animated film? That’s smart. It shows growth. Maybe I’ll watch it with my nephews when it comes out. Could be fun.

This movie sounds really sweet. I was always the smallest kid in school, and it made me afraid to try sports. I wish I had a movie like Goat growing up, where someone small like me still dreams big. The fact that Will doesn’t give up even though he’s not tall is inspiring. And it’s great that his idol is someone like Jett, a strong female character. I’m glad kids today can see characters like this. I hope this movie touches people’s hearts the way it already touched mine just by reading about it.

From an educational angle, Goat seems like it could be a great teaching tool. The idea that someone who doesn’t fit the typical mold (in this case, a small goat) still dreams big is a strong message for kids. Many children struggle with self-esteem, especially in competitive environments. A film like this can help them feel empowered. I also appreciate that it promotes inclusivity—coed teams show gender equality in a fun way. The voice actors are well chosen, and I trust Sony’s recent storytelling. If handled correctly, this movie could inspire important classroom discussions on perseverance and diversity.

For some lighter downtime, I’ve also noticed that sites like pokies payid https://thepokies103au.net/ make it easy to enjoy games safely and quickly, which can be a fun way for adults to unwind after engaging with educational content.

I agree—Goat can be a powerful educational tool. It raises important topics: self-esteem, inclusivity, perseverance, and equality. The story of an “unsuitable” heroine who dreams and strives for more easily resonates with children, especially those who feel different. Such films not only inspire but also create a basis for classroom discussions about acceptance, teamwork, and self-confidence.
