Gloomhaven Is Now A Steam Video Game
There’s now more than one way to play the dungeon-crawling RPG Gloomhaven. Originally born as a tabletop RPG, it soft-launched in video game form on Steam Early Access two years ago. Since then publisher Asmodee Digital and developer Flaming Fowl Studios have been building up its content, and as of today, the complete and finalized version of Gloomhaven has officially launched.
The Gloomhaven game plays much like its cardboard-based real-world counterpart, mixing tactical RPG elements with randomized dungeon crawling. It’s main attraction is an Adventure Mode with roguelike mechanics and turn-based combat. There’s also a co-op mode for two to four players. But the finished game has 95 new stories and event missions to delve into, on top of the 170 missions of the Guildmaster campaign that were added to the Early Access version. That equals over 200 hours of gameplay, with thousands of abilities to master, gear to collect and monsters to slay.
After two years of Early Access, mercenaries will now be able to explore the entire board game campaign, while seasoned adventurers can return to the harsh lands of Gloomhaven they know and love in the digital exclusive Guildmaster mode. Whatever path you choose, you’ll have to crack a few skulls, prepare your team synergies, and play your cards wisely in a bid to earn a name for yourself. Do you have what it takes to be a mercenary on the edge of the world?
Gloomhaven is live now on Steam, but you can also get it on GoG. The price is $34.99. And the trailer looks like this…
