Electronic Arts announced today that it will be giving away free copies of the Sims 2 along with every single piece of expansion content ever released.

This news comes barely a week after EA announced that it would end support and patches for the simulation game, and would release The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection free of charge to all owners. EA said that the release of The Sims 2 is a gesture of good will following the termination of its service and new content for the game.

The Ultimate Collection includes all eight expansion packs, and all 10 stuff packs that have been released since the game was first launched in 2004.

The Ultimate Collection is now available to everyone on the internet so long as they take the time to download Origin and head to the Origin code redemption page with the login. After that they would just need to enter the code I-LOVE-THE-SIMS and accept the following prompts to add the game to their Origin account.  Once complete you’ll find yourself the proud owner of every virtual toaster and toilet at your disposal.

The Sims 2 will remain a free download until July 31 10 A.M. Pacific.

This announcement comes very near to the heels of the release of The Sims 4, scheduled to launch September 2
