FURIOSA! The Trailer Is Here

Forget Wonka — the one prequel everybody actually DOES want from Warner Bros is Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the follow-up to Mad Max Fury Road from the same director, George Miller. The trailer was suddenly dropped tonight, and looks as amazing as you might expect, though some of those CG shots make the thing look like a cartoon. Eh, it’s a work in progress, right?

Charlize Theron played the character of Furiosa in Fury Road, but she’s younger here and they don’t feel like de-aging Theron with technology, so Anya Taylor-Joy has been put in the role.

So how did Furiosa become so…furious? The trailer reveals that she grew up in a peaceful villa called the Green Place of Many Mothers but was then grabbed by a vicious Biker Horde and claimed as the property of the picture’s Big Bad, Warlord Dementus. Dementus happens to be at war with another apocalyptic tyrant, Immortan Joe, and while the two are clashing at it, Furiosa has to figure out how to survive and get back home. She may lose one arm along the way.

Just think: this is only the FIRST trailer. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga doesn’t hit theaters for a good six months! Reserve your seats for May 24, 2024 and hold on tight.
