Free League’s 2024 Game Portfolio

Free League Publishing just sent us a list of everything they plan to release in the 2024 calendar year. Keep in mind they might have an unrevealed surprise or two waiting within that time. In fact, we’d guess as much, because currently their schedule only has two brand-new products set for release, and they’re ones we’ve known are coming for a while.

In the second quarter of 2024 Free League will release Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars, the latest installment of the long-running tabletop classic. “Lead a band of mutant Stalkers into the Zone and fight others to scavenge artifacts from the Ancients,” FL  describes. “Stake out your claim in the post-apocalyptic wasteland – or die trying. Designed to be played by up to four players, Zone Wars is all about embracing mayhem and emergent narrative to create a fun and fast-flowing experience.”

In the third quarter of 2024 we’ll finally get The Electric State, the hyped-up RPG from the creators of Tales From The Loop. It is set in an alternate, post-apocalyptic 1997 where you and your friends play a group of travelers heading out on a journey through the ruins of America, littered with gigantic battle drones and discarded trash. The game uses Free League’s Year Zero Engine and was written by Nils Hintze (Tales From the Loop RPG, The Walking Dead Universe RPG) in collaboration with Tomas Härenstam (Blade Runner RPG, Dragonbane, ALIEN RPG), Nils Karlén (Coriolis) and Mattias Johnsson Haake (Symbaroum).

There’s plenty more, but they’re expansions to existing games. Here’s the full schedule as it is:

As someone deeply immersed in tabletop RPGs, The Electric State has piqued my interest. Exploring an alternate, post-apocalyptic 1997 filled with gigantic battle drones sounds like a fascinating setting to delve into. Plus, the pedigree of the creators behind it only adds to my anticipation. I'll be eagerly awaiting its release in the third quarter of 2024.

The Electric State has me feeling nostalgic for the '90s with its alternate post-apocalyptic setting. It's like stepping into a retro-futuristic world filled with remnants of a bygone era. I'm excited to see how Free League brings this unique vision to life and immerses players in a world teeming with both danger and intrigue.

Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars seems like it'll offer plenty of tactical gameplay opportunities, especially with its focus on scavenging and staking out claims in the wasteland. I'm already brainstorming strategies for leading my mutant Stalkers to victory while navigating the dangers of the Zone. It's shaping up to be a thrilling tabletop experience that rewards cunning and adaptability.
