You’ve had to deal with the odd zombie apocalypse every now and again, but what about a zombie sheep apocalypse? This upcoming game, Flock Off, asks that question, and it wants you to answer what will happen! Created by Bunkhouse Games, Flock Off seeks to take the good fun of a Co-op PvE zombie game, and put a fun twist on things. You’re thrown into the Scottish Highlands in the 90s, dealing with the aftermath of horrible experiments. However, you are not dealing with a horde of zombified humans, but rather herds of zombified sheep! It’s a wacky take on the usual formula, made popular by the Left 4 Dead series. It has also and iterated on by other games like Back 4 Blood and Darktide. However, zombie sheep isn’t all that this game has to offer, as it uses a unique and chaotic weapons system that further shakes things up. Unlike in other games where you have a dedicated load out, you can pick anything to use as a weapon against the undead herd. Every object in your surroundings can become a makeshift weapon. Fling a friend into a charging sheep to slow it down or block a path with a rolling trash bin. […]

Okay this is dumb. I love it. Just the name “Flock Off” already makes me want to play. I don’t care if it ends up being short or buggy, I just want to play a game where I throw a microwave at a sheep.

To be honest, I think this game will depend a lot on how smooth the controls are. I’ve played too many indie co-op games where the idea was fun but the actual gameplay was messy. I like that the article mentioned jump scares and mysteries. That tells me the game might have layers, not just a joke concept. I’m waiting to see a gameplay demo before I commit. The art direction also matters. Are the sheep going to be cartoonish or disgusting? Both can work, but it changes the mood.

I play mostly horror games, and I think this could be a sleeper hit. There’s something deeply weird about sheep being violent. It sounds funny but also disturbing. I like that they didn’t go the obvious zombie human route. It sounds like a small team made this game, which means it might not be perfect at launch, but I respect creative risks. If the story has creepy secrets or a twist, I’m in.

The sheep angle is cool, but I’m more curious about the lore. “Horrible experiments in the 90s” sounds vague. If the game gives small clues or documents that explain what went wrong, I’ll probably spend more time exploring than fighting. I like mysteries. It’s not always about shooting. If they add puzzles or secret areas, it might surprise people.

I showed this to my little brother and he’s already obsessed. He’s 11 and doesn’t usually like horror, but this game seems just scary enough to excite him without going overboard. I think Flock Off will be good for people who want a spooky but silly game to play together. Not every zombie game needs blood everywhere and tragic stories. Sometimes, sheep with glowing eyes is enough.
