Your Holy Grail?

Well then what happens after said Grail is attained? There's going to be another eventually.

Are you saying there isn't a single thing that's so beautiful and so rare and expensive that you want it so much your heart aches but your wife/girlfriend/wallet would kill you for buying it?

That one, limited release figure from 1994 that only had 10,000 units produced that costs $300 minimum for a used and abused one found in some guy's attic?

Well, if the answer to that is no, and you don't have anything that even loosely fits that kind of description and you are either wealthy or foolish or unwanting enough to have nothing outside of your grasp...then yeah, you don't have a holy grail.

In which case what the heck are you doing in this thread about them? Shoo, go show off your collection in the Rad Toy Thread or something. We're all jealous.

There's plenty of things I'd love to have that fit that description, but, my point was that if you do have a grail and you are finally able to get it whether it takes a week or a decade, eventually you are going to have another item that becomes a new Holy Grail. Especially if you enjoy the chase for it.

Well, even though I quoted you specifically Anthony that was more of a general reply to the last couple pages of posts.

I've never really been about the chase. Pining over what I can't have has never really been my style. If I can get it, I get it. And then I enjoy it. I do lament over things lost though...like the horns to my Black & Gold Megazord's Triceratops Zord, or the ripped corner of its box...

Maybe Glamador should make a thread about our greatest toy-based regrets and losses. I'm sure any of us that have ammassed toys for some time have a few anecdotes worth sharing.

Dude, that'd be an awesome idea for a thread, that kind of stuff pisses me off all the time.

Anyway, yeah I can see where you're coming from, and I do agree that a Grail is more of a singular item than a lengthy want list. I personally really enjoy the plotting and scheming portion making rare purchases, but I may have some OCD so maybe it's just me.

Ultra-Act Zoffy. Most of the time, nobody is selling one. Although I just saw one on Mandarake going for 14, 000 yen.

Thanks to the re-release (which I didn't manage to preorder), Zoffy's Mandarake prices went down a lot, and I got one for under half that amount some time ago. Woohoo!

New Grail: Super GUTS Mecha Encyclopedia

http://www.amazon.co.jp/おもちゃ/dp/B008ZOIUWS

It includes the mobile space fortress thing (the Kraakov, or whatever it's called), which is awesome. Not sure why that Amazon JP listing has such high a price. I'm pretty sure I've seen (now sold out) listings for it on Mandarake that were only in the 3000-5000 yen range.

It's prooooobably not that unobtainable, though. I just have to wait for it to show up.

Also, Popynica Plus Artdessei.
Never seen it on Mandarake, but I've seen it on eBay for like, 200 dollars or so. (There seems to be at least two Artdessei toys, by the way)
