I just finished watching Chainsaw Man and, wow, MAPPA really knocked it out of the park! From the animation quality to the way they handled the pacing, it feels like they truly understood the source material. The sense of chaos and emotion just seeps through every episode, especially with those incredible fight scenes!
I mean, the character dynamics are so well captured. Denji's struggles resonate on such a level, and they really play up Aki and Power's personalities in a way that makes the story pop. And can we talk about the openings? The music choices and visuals are just stunning.
I've come across some opinions saying it doesn’t live up to the manga, but I think it stands strong as its own interpretation while still honoring what made the manga a hit. Am I alone in thinking MAPPA is on a roll lately with their adaptations?
What do you all think? How does it compare to their other works like Jujutsu Kaisen or Dorohedoro? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Dude I’m right there with you. MAPPA absolutely crushed Chainsaw Man. The way they animated the Gun Devil fight gave me actual chills, that shaky camera and blood everywhere felt so raw. Denji screaming while transforming still hits hard every rewatch. People complaining it’s not 1:1 with the manga are missing the point – this is anime doing its own thing perfectly. MAPPA’s been cooking since JJK season 1, no cap.
Completely agree man. The opening songs slap every single time. That first one with the crazy visuals? Chef’s kiss. And yeah Denji’s whole broke horny idiot vibe comes through super clear. Compared to JJK, Chainsaw Man feels more personal and messy in a good way. JJK is cleaner and more shonen but CSM just bleeds emotion. MAPPA nailed the tone.
