What's the Ideal Viewing Order for the "Planet of the Apes" Series?

I've recently decided to binge the "Planet of the Apes" films but I'm unsure about the best way to approach them. Should I watch them in release order, chronological order, or is there a different viewing strategy that maximizes the experience? Any recommendations on which films to prioritize and how to enjoy the narrative flow would be greatly appreciated!

Watching the "Planet of the Apes" series is such a treat! I'd definitely recommend starting with the original films in release order. The 1968 "Planet of the Apes" is a classic and sets the groundwork for everything that follows, plus the twist at the end is iconic.

From there, going into the sequels like "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" and "Escape from the Planet of the Apes" gives you a really interesting view of how the series evolved, especially with its social commentary. If you're feeling adventurous, check out the newer trilogy starting with 2011's "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." Those films have incredible visual effects and bring a fresh perspective to the franchise.

What really pulls me in is the evolution of the character Caesar, seeing his journey from a misunderstood ape to a leader is fascinating. Are you more excited about the original films or the newer trilogy?
