Werewolf Game 101 (aka Game of Justice!)

After I received Keith's blessing for my proposal, here goes nothing. Before we proceed to this new kind of game, why not sit back and read this wonderful tutorial. If you have any questions regarding this, just PM me.

First, Werewolf games can last anywhere from a few days to a full week. This is dependent on what transpires in the game and the number of players in the game. Second, if you are not able to make the time to play each and every day, don't sign-up. Players need to be able to play and actively participate each and every day.

Background

BACKGROUND

Imagine yourself living in a small village or town where everyone knows one another. Everyone during the day seems to be just regular people going on with their day-to-day lives. It is at night that a few of these regular people lead a secret life as a Werewolf. A Werewolf is a regular person during the day who at night transforms into a wolf-like creature. A person that is a Werewolf, knows exactly what they are and knows exactly if another person is a Werewolf or not. Werewolves typically transform into these wolf-like creatures during the night, during which time, they stalk, hunt, and kill a villager. The villager killed is typically someone who is deemed a threat to the Werewolves. When morning comes, they are once again transformed back into their human villager form. A werewolf knowingly leads a double life and will do anything to protect himself from the other villagers. The Werewolves win the game by killing all of the Villagers. The Villagers win the game by killing all of the Werewolves.

Artifact: (I don't have that picture but I'll tell you the description)
It's the Amulet of Protection, an item that can be used to protect against werewolves for one-time only. He/she can only pass the item to someone by sending a PM to the game host during the night. Once he/she is being targeted by them, he/she will be saved but the item will vanished.

Game Rounds and Voting

GAME ROUNDS & VOTING

There are 2 rounds each day. A Day Round and A Night Round. The starting and ending times of these Rounds are determined by the person that is hosting the game.

DAY ROUND & VILLAGER VOTING - This round starts immediately after the announcement of a player being killed by the Werewolves. During this round, all players, including Werewolves, will vote for who they think is a Werewolf. During this vote, the Werewolves will try to force the vote so someone other than a Werewolf will get killed. The voting is done publicly in the game thread. For player's to cast their vote, they must make a post in the game thread like the one shown here:

Example: Vote: GekiDan

NIGHT ROUND & WEREWOLF VOTING - This round starts immediately after the person voted to be a Werewolf is lynched by the Villagers. During this Round, the Werewolves make their kill, the Seer (if permitted) will Peek a player, the Evil Seer (if permitted) will Peek a player, the Guardian (if used in the game) will make his Protection Pick, and the Prostitute (if used in the game) will Sleep With a player. All of the Werewolf kill votes, the Seer Peek, the Evil Seer Peek, the Guardian Protection Pick, and the Prostitute's Sleeps With pick is done via PM (Private Message) with the person hosting the game so not to reveal these player's roles to anyone.

Game Structure (very optional) and Communication

COMMUNICATION

All players can communicate with one another either pubically in the game thread or privately via PM (Private Message) or IM (Instant Messaging). So if a player wants to say something to another player in confidence, they just need to send a PM or IM to that player. Communication between the players is key for both teams, Team Villager and Team Wolf. However, every player has to judge for themselves what to believe or what not to believe that is said to them by another player. The content of your communications with others is not restricted in any way except for when a player is killed in the game. Players, upon their death in the game, can no longer communicate or convey unto others game related information. Such conversations can effect the outcome of the game and is considered cheating. Dead men are supposed to tell no tales.

General Rules

GENERAL RULES

1. Trust no one. Anyone could be a Werewolf. Putting your trust in another player is entirely up to you, but keep in mind that a Werewolf could betray your trust and kill you or use your trust to their advantage.

2. All Player Roles must be completely random.

3. No screen shots of Role Assignments or PM's (Private Messages). These items can be easily faked by a skilled individual. Ever hear of Photo Shop? Not everyone has the skills or tools to fake these items, so to keep the game fair for all players, these items are banned from being done.

4. No quoting of Role Assignment PM's (Private Messages). Quoting of PM's can be easily faked and thus banned from being done to keep the game fair.

5. All Players must vote during the Day Round. Not voting is considered non-participation and players will be warned for each instance. After 3 warnings, players will be BANNED from playing permanently. The times of the Day Round are determined by the host of the game. It is your responsibility to know these times for the time zone you live in. Any votes made after the time of the Day Round has passed, will not count. So for those people that like to post their vote at the last minute, be sure to leave enough time to vote or change your vote. NO EXCEPTIONS.

6. If a player casts their vote prior to the beginning of the Day Round, their vote will count as long as that player is not killed in the NIGHT ROUND by the werewolves. If they are killed, their vote is void.

7. Werewolf votes must be made during or prior to the Night Round as long as the Werewolf is not killed prior to the start of the Night Round. The times of the Night Round are determined by the game host. Exceptions can be made, but that is at full discretion of the game host.

8. In the result of a tie in the villager voting, voting will be extended 30 minutes to allow for vote changes. If there is still a tie vote after this extension, BOTH PLAYERS ARE KILLED.

9. The Seer may or may not be allowed a pregame Peek. This is dependent on the number of players playing (See Game Structure Section). The Seer can have 1 Peek every other night round starting with the second Night Round. The Seer's Peek must be made during or prior to the Night Round as long as the Seer is not killed prior to the start of the Night Round. The times of the Night Round are determined by the game host. Exceptions can be made, but that is at full discretion of the game host.

10. The Guardian (if used) is allowed to protect 1 villager each and every Night Round, but not the same person two nights in a row. The Guardian's Protection Pick must be made during or prior to the Night Round as long as the Guardian is not killed prior to the start of the Night Round. The times of the Night Round are determined by the game host. Exceptions can be made, but that is at full discretion of the game host.

11. Once a player is killed in the game, they will not be allowed to communicate with the other players with regards to anything game related. That means, Werewolves cannot reveal their roles to any player, alive or dead, until the conclusion of the game & dead players cannot give advice or guidance to anyone still playing in the game.

12. No divulging of game related information with anyone. Keep the game fair for all players.

13. For all games, the game ends when one of the following conditions are met: 1. At any time when the number of Werewolves is equal to the number of players left for Team Villager. 2. All of the Werewolves have been killed.

14. All voting is done with adherence to the forum clock. The game host will establish times for both the Day and Night Rounds. Players must vote within those times. Any and all votes made after time has passed, will not count. The game host may post "Voting Closed" as a courtesy, but all voting must be done within the prescribed time according to the time of post.

15. Absolutely NO ONE is to make promises as to the effect of "If I'm a Wolf, JFC/Keith can suck my ass" or "If I'm a Wolf, I'll never play Werewolf Game again". Anyone who makes such promises or any other promises that envolve ADMIN or Forum MODs will be BANNED from the Werewolf Forum and maybe the Forums in general.

Game Scoring & Player Stats

Note: If you have any questions regarding the game as what I've mentioned earlier, please don't be afraid to ask me. My ears are always clean.

Your WEREWOLF Score is calculated like this:

1. When the WEREWOLVES win, all the WEREWOLF TEAM members count the game as a win, and all of the VILLAGER TEAM count it as a loss.

2. When the WEREWOLF TEAM loses, all of the WEREWOLF TEAM count the game as a loss, and all of the VILLAGER TEAM counts it as a win.

3. Divide your number of Wins divided by the number of Games you have played.

4. Multiply this ratio by 1000, and round it off to the nearest whole number.

5. Your Combined Score is your Score multiplied by the number of games you've won.

6. For Players that have the same Score, Different Number of Wins, and Different Number of Losses, Ranking is sorted by Fewest Games Played First and Most Games Played Last.

7. For Players that have the same Score, Same Number of Wins, and Same Number of Losses, Ranking is sorted Alphabetically.

Game Host's Basic Requirements, Sign-up Thread and Game Structure

Basic Requirements

Anyone interested in hosting a Werewolf Game must meet certain minimum requirements:

1. The person wanting to host a Werewolf Game must have played at least 3 games.
2. This person must also have a basic theme or story line for the game (anything from toku, TV shows, movies, your own story, etc...).
3. This person must not be a BANNED player.
4. This person must have the time available in order to host the game in every respect.
5. Lastly, the person wanting to host a Werewolf Game must be approved by me, MagiPink, Keith, JFC, Aoi Kurenai, Rider Faiz and Blade Dancer.

If you meet the above basic requirements and desire to host a Werewolf Game, please make a post in the Werewolf Game Mod Thread expressing your desire to host a game. Please include your theme for the game, the number of players you would like to have, the date you would want to start the game, and the times best suited for you for the Day Rounds and the Night Rounds.

Sign-Up Thread

Once a person wanting to host a Werewolf Game has submitted their game idea and has been approved by a forum Moderator, the person will be given permission to start a "Sign-Up Thread" for players to sign-up to play in the game. When making the "Sign-Up Thread", be sure to post your game's theme, the number of players you want to play, the date you wish to start the game, the times for the Day and Night Rounds, the types of roles you plan to use, and the forum's General Rules. Edit your post to include a list of players who have signed-up to play.

Game Structure

Once you have enough players signed-up to play, it is time to determine the actual roles that will be used in your game. The number of players who have signed-up limits the variety of roles that may be used, however there is a wide variety of roles that can be used for both the Villager and Werewolf Teams. In addition, there are other roles that either change teams or are teams all their own.

So basically it's an assasin game here in HJU?
but does is it really necessary to only have a werewolf theme?

"2. This person must also have a basic theme or story line for the game (anything from toku, TV shows, movies, your own story, etc...)."

I think the Werewolf part is just a cover name. I thought that rule 2 ensured that the theme could be appropriately changed.
