Warner Bros To Get Rid Of Adult Swim Games Division In Very Warner Bros Fashion

Warner Bros has revealed they're shutting down Adult Swim Games, the off-branch of the cable network that specialized in publishing mostly small, quirky indie titles. If you had to guess how they're doing it, what would you assume? You'd be correct...they're simply delisting all the games from Steam with no chance of return.

At least they've given advance warning this time: the removal of that library is supposed to happen within 60 days, or two months, so if there was any Adult Swim Game that struck your fancy yet you never pulled the trigger on, you still have a chance. The full list of games is at this link.

Mind, WB didn't formally announce the impending death of ASG. The reason we know about it is because they told the developers of these games, and the developers vented their frustration to social media and to reporters. Owen Deery, creator of Small Radios Big Televisions, was the first to blab, and as an apology for events he can't control, he is offering his game for free through his website.

It's unclear what this means legally. In most cases, the contract these devs signed with ASG retained their ownership of the game's code and characters, but for this specific Steam release, the ball appears to be in WB's court and WB is simply popping the ball and throwing it in the trash. "When we requested that Warner Bros simply transfer the game over to our studio's Steam publisher account so that the game could stay active, they said no," says the co-creator of Fist Puncher. "The transfer process literally takes a minute to initiate (look up "Transferring Applications" in the Steamworks documentation), but their rep claimed they have simply made the universal decision not to transfer the games to the original creators."

So while it's unlikely these games would disappear forever, they might have to be re-submitted to Steam, and your previous ownership of them wouldn't count -- but WB doesn't care about any of this.

This news is quite unsettling, to say the least. As someone who enjoys exploring indie titles, Adult Swim Games has been a go-to for me. It's disappointing to see them being dissolved without much regard for the impact on developers and players alike. Warner Bros.' decision to delist the games without offering any alternative solutions reflects a lack of foresight and empathy. It's a reminder of the importance of supporting independent voices in the gaming industry.

Oh, wow, I had no idea about this! It's kind of shocking to hear about the closure of Adult Swim Games. I guess I've been a bit out of the loop lately. It's a shame, though—I've heard they had some really interesting titles. It's always sad to see creative ventures come to an end like this. Lack of promotion killed it,

Well, isn't this a blow to the gaming community? Adult Swim Games has been a source of delight for many, myself included. It's sad to see them being dismantled in such a manner. The lack of communication and cooperation from Warner Bros. only adds insult to injury. It's a stark reminder of the challenges indie developers face in an industry dominated by corporate interests. Let's hope the affected developers find a way to bounce back from this setback.

Man, this is a bummer. Adult Swim Games was a breath of fresh air in the industry, giving weird and wonderful indies a platform. Delisting them with no chance of return? That's just cold. Here's hoping the devs can find a way to get their games back out there somehow.

WB Discovery's been on a cost-cutting spree lately, so this isn't exactly shocking. Makes financial sense, I guess, but it still sucks for those quirky titles and the passionate devs behind them. Two months to grab those Adult Swim gems, folks!

This is unbelievable. We pour our hearts and souls into these games, and WB just throws them away like yesterday's trash. Feels like a slap in the face. Here's to hoping we can find a way to bring our creations back to the players.

Wow, what a disappointment. Swim Games brought a unique flair to the industry, showcasing quirky and fantastic indie games. Removing them without any possibility of return? That's harsh. Let's hope the developers can figure out a way to reintroduce their games to the market somehow.
