TV Ads.. Not surposed to be scary, but is?

Well, it's nearly 3.AM here in the UK, and I've been in bed, having some nightmares!! And I've just noticed my computer's still on, still downloading my MagiRanger 19, and somehow I decided to post this while my computer's still on all night!!

Anyway, Have you ever been given nightmares from something as dumb as TV Commercials when you were a kid? If so, was the TV Commercial surposed to be scary or just plain dumb?

Me? When I was a kid I used to have nightmares of this Car Crime advert, where there were these Hyenas going into these cars and stealing these goods. If you live in the UK you MAY remember that advert (I think it was about 1992 ish). I dunno how this managed to scare me, maybe it was the background music or the narrators voice, but it was effective. I still have this advert on tape (at the time I was recording an episode of Mr Bean), I could post this ad onto YouSendIt, but right now I don't know how to record video tapes onto my PC.

I still do get scared by TV Ads now and again. I was watching these Australien Road Safety Ads for on Tarrant on TV, and the slogan was "If You Drink and Drive, you're a Bloody Idiot".

Oh, and I remember this billboard ad for "New Labour New Danger" with Tony Blair with Demon's eyes. Even that gave me the creeps!!


So.. what about you? Any TV Ads that gave you nightmares when you were little (even though they weren't surposed to)? Oh, and feel free to post video clips of em!!

Im a bit differant. I've never had a nightmare in my life. I've had freaky dreams, sexual dreams, weird dreams, really creepy dreams or whatever. But I wouldnt call any of them nightmares because I've never woke up from them scared. I guess that's because I loved monster movies as a kid. I would watch Gremlins and Freddy and Jason and all those shows. Tales from the Darkside, Twilight Zone, Tales from the Crypt, Creepshow. Sure some of those movies scared me. (Living Dolls are what scare me the most. I cant stand that stuff. Well not when I was younger. I can put up with it now but Dolls.. *shudder* just cant stand them) But none of them ever gave me nightmares. I dunno. I guess its because I loved scary movies as a kid.

When I was a kid, there was an anti-drug commercial, that involved this black guy walking through a ghetto, and judging by his outfit, he looked like he belonged in "breakin out 2: Electric boogaloo" or something. Anyway, as he was walking, he was talking to the camera about liking to hurt people with drugs. Then at the end, he walked right up to the camera and he had a serpent face! Message: drugs are evil, and the dealers are the wicked serpent devils. When I was a kid, it scared the ever-living **** out of me. But now I look back and realize just how ridiculous that was
