Tomb Raider: Legend

FINALLY it's going to be released.

April 11 that next TR game is out! Anyone else buying it? Hopefully it's not like Angel of Darkness because THAT game sucked (horrible controls, filled with glitches, crappy storyline).

Tomb Raider: Legends is out and while it is better then Angel of Darkness, as a TR fan I can honestly say that it was BORING. Don't get me wrong, Legends was a great game... if you're not use to any previous Tomb Raider games.

  1. The graphics were great. I've read about other major glitches including things not activating properly while in the middle of a level. Some glitches in the demo and some in the released version. Example of one of the glitches I encountered:

  2. The storyline was decent - could have been better - too open ended like AOD. AOD we never found out what happened to the guy that helped Lara (then again, it pissed me and alot of TR fans for even sticking him in the game as a temp PC). In this game we're left with WAY too many questions which most likely will NOT be brought up in the next TR game.
  3. The characters were ok - could have explained certain aspects better since the character profiles on the website has far more details then the game.
  4. Game levels TOO short. There were a total of eight locations to go to. Typically this is more then previous games but the levels are REALLY short. On average it took me less then 45 minutes per level, the longest level took me 56 minutes to complete.
  5. Game controls TOO easy. The only real "new" addition was Bullet Time but that's over done in other games and only accessible through a combination move while shooting the enemies. Backflips and sideflips were removed, except during battle while you drew out the guns.
  6. Holding out the guns was too short and she automatically put them away after a few seconds (really annoying when you're approaching someone she puts the guns away).
  7. Amount of equipment was drastically reduced - only allowed her main guns and ONE additional weapon. Main guns had unlimited ammo while secondary weapon had a limited amount of ammo. Only allowed four gernades and three health packs!
  8. Semi-interactive cut scenes. ANNOYING. Ok, I did like the fact that during the cut scenes you had partial control of Lara BUT at the same time if the arrow was point up it wasn't necessarily the up ↑ arrow key.
  9. The outfits. It was fun finding the hidden objects to access new clothes but frankly, the new clothes (other then what she automatically wore while in a new level) were pointless. Like did we really need a red version of her black cocktail dress (see official website for pic of black cocktail dress)?

Was it worth the $40 for the PC version? Hell no. The game was TOO short, TOO easy and while it felt like a TR game, it wasn't challenging enough even on the hardest setting. Come to think of it, since I played it on the hardest setting and I breezed right through it (100%) I wonder how much less time it would take on the easiest setting. Don't waste your time buying Tomb Raider: Legends since it really isn't worth the money.
