Singapore

Black Ranger RX

I don't have low self esteem.
OK, on my previous post about family problems (which were more about family washing ups than Japan), we had this little talk about living in Japan, and how expensive it's going to be, and so on..

And so I've been thinking about it for a while, and... *SIGH* yeah.. I have to admit, I won't be able to tell what will happen in the future, and thus I don't know how much monney I will get, and whether I'll ever get enough monney to move to Japan, is a decision only Captain Future would make.. So, if I choose not to got to Japan, then... what next? Coz I don't want to spend the rest of my life living in pip pip old England. Not that I harshley hate England or anything, this place being the place where I was born and all, but wouldn't it be a bit boring spending the rest of my life here?

And suddenly, I thought about moving to another place in South East Asia as like a "second alternative" to Japan, so I though, why not live in Singapore?

So, the whole point of the thread is.. What is living in Singapore like? I was just thinking about living in Singapore as a second alternative, incase I find that I'm not able to go to Japan. And of course there's lots of Singaporean people on this board (including my good friend Basri and Shoichi).

Some questions..

- Is the lifestyle in Singapore expensive at all like Japan?

- How much will it cost for a person living in Singapore who wants to take a short holiday to Japan for a week or so (after like a break from work).

- Although they speak English in Singapore, will I at all have to learn to speak Malaysian too?

Just curious.. Of course I've not given up my hope for living in Japan yet, but this is just as a second alternative.

Why in the world do you now want to move to Singapore? And yes, you'll have to learn Malaysian if you want to live there.

Again, moving to another country - where you don't know anyone, have no ties to, do not know the laws or language - is not a very good idea. If you hate the location you live at, why not move to another part of the country?

Let me give you a piece of advice another person gave that guy I told you about.

It's easier and cheaper to move from one part of your country to another.

Well why don't you ask my Dad why he took our family to live in Germany for 3 years? And yes we did learn the German language (DUUUU'H, Dann wurden wir nicht im Deutchland wohnen ).

Was your father in the military, did he have relatives there, a job BEFORE moving? Because no country will allow a foreigner to live there unless he has a reason to be there.

Exactly. Same reason why we moved to England for six years.

Why do you hate England, man? It's one of the best countries I've ever been to. If you want a change of scenery, go get yourself a job and a flat in London. Sure, it's expensive, but at least you know the country.

If you want to move to an Asian country, try Hong Kong. English is a least more of a prominent language there.

WHAT? That's stupid!! :sly: Why shouldn't people be allowed to live in a foreign country unless they have relatives there? I don't have any relatives in Japan, nor Singapore (well.. at least none of whom I know of). It just doesn't make sense!!

And no, my father wasn't in the military (or at least I doubt it). Relatives? Well, he had alot of friends in Germany (I'm pretty sure of that), but family wise I don't know, maybe I'll ask him sooner or later.

And If I have no reason to live in a foreign country, yet I have no reason to stay where I am, should I be kicked out of the world, and then go to Mars to ask if I can stay with them, only to find the Martians saying "NO!! GO BACK TO EARTH!!!", and then be left all confused and not know what the hell to do?

And moving to another part of the country would be pretty pointless because it would be most likely to be exacly the same as where I'm living now.

Anybody else want to respond to this topic?
EDIT: Oh, some people just did.

It's not that I hate England, it's just that I've lived for for like since mid 1995 and.. I just want to move on.

Yeah, dude, to move to Japan you're probably going to need to get yourself a work Visa. Your dad did when you went to Germany, I'm sure. You can't just hop on a plane, head over there and start looking for work.
