It was ten years ago that Retrotainment Games burst onto the homebrew scene with Haunted Halloween 85, their first original game for the NES. They’ve grown since then, developing other games like Full Quiet, but for their double-digit anniversary, they’ve returned to their original creation once more for one last ghoulish romp: presenting Haunted Halloween 87. After Haunted Halloween 85 in 2015 and Haunted Halloween 86 in 2017, Haunted Halloween 87 plans to wrap up the trilogy once and for all. The main characters are once again Donny and Tami, two typical teenagers who, two years ago, found out their Midwestern American town was cursed (but what would you expect from a place called “Possum Hollow”). They’ve spent the last two years fighting off the minions of a monster named Harry who appears every Halloween night, but this time Harry isn’t taking chances — he’s partnered up with a witch. This means Donny and Tami will have to be stronger than ever before, and lucky for us, they’ve been training.
