There were entire years between the releases of Squid Game Seasons 1 and 2, but Season 3 won’t take nearly as long. Since the two follow-ups were filmed back to back, their release dates will only be six months apart. Netflix announced today Season 3 will come out June 27. The rapidity is s good thing, as anyone who has seen Season 2 can tell you it was more of half a season. It was shorter than Season 1, didn’t feature as many games and ended on a major cliffhanger. Not everyone felt satisfied, but answers are coming quickly. With the announcement, Netflix provided five new images from the show. They don’t reveal anything earth-shattering, but I guess we now know Gi-hun gets handcuffed to a bed at some point. Perhaps the nest game is Gerald’s Game. Keep your feet away from that dog, Gi-hun! Netflix also previewed a new clip from the upcoming season, but only to select members of the press. That didn’t include us, so we have to rely on what Germain Lussier of the website iO9 describes: The remaining surviving players gather in a room with what looks like a giant gumball machine in the center. I'm honestly terrified for Gi-hun. He's been through so much already, and I don't know how much more he can endure. Season 2 was brutal, and knowing that no one is truly safe in this game... it's terrifying. I'm hoping he finds a way to break the cycle, but I have a feeling things are only going to get worse before they get better."

This reply expresses nervousness for Gi-hun's well-being, highlighting the brutal nature of the game and the uncertainty surrounding his fate.

So nervous for Hyun-ju and Geum-ja. Season 2 was brutal, and I'm worried about what horrors await them in Season 3. In Squid Game, no one is truly safe. The games are designed to break you, to push you to your absolute limits. I'm hoping against hope that they both somehow manage to survive, but with the Front Man still pulling the strings, I have a sinking feeling that things are only going to get worse. I just hope they're able to find a way to fight back and maybe even escape this deadly cycle.

Many believe the boy doll will feature prominently in the upcoming games. However, the initial clip shows Player 100 as a young person, while in Season 2, Player 100 was elderly. This discrepancy suggests that this scene might not depict the current games. It could be a flashback to the Front Man's past as a player or a glimpse into an earlier version of the games

I actually think Squid Game could use more flashbacks! I'd love to see the origins of the games themselves. How did it all begin? Who were the first players? It would be fascinating to see flashbacks of Hwang In-ho playing in earlier games, maybe even the very first one. I'd also be intrigued by a prequel showing the creation of the island where the games take place – the construction, the planning, the chilling atmosphere building.

"I'm absolutely buzzing for Season 3! The Human Chess idea is brilliant – it's so dehumanizing and perfectly captures the game's essence. I'm hoping for even more unexpected twists and turns. I need to know what happens to Gi-hun! Will he finally break free from the game's grip, or will he succumb to its allure?

Let's be honest, the real draw of Squid Game is the spectacle. The games are designed to be visually striking and emotionally disturbing. I'm sure Season 3 will deliver on that front. Whether it will have any real depth or meaningful commentary remains to be seen.

It's bittersweet to know that Season 3 will be the last for Squid Game. I'll definitely miss the suspense and the social commentary it brings. But the fact that we'll have an American spin-off in the same universe is exciting! The possibility of seeing familiar faces from the Korean version, even in cameo roles, adds a whole new layer of intrigue. It'll be interesting to see how the American context shapes the games and the characters, while still maintaining the core themes of the original.
