I'll agree the fight may be a little repetitive, but I thought it was quite watchable anyway. (And I rather liked that this fight was done mostly in a single shot, unlike the chop-edit technique I detest.) It's not exactly The Super Inframan, but not bad, either.
One of the things I'm trying to do is replicate the "feel" of the old Kamen Rider shows. I've been watching all the Kamen Rider V3 episodes in a row, and I noticed they don't do a whole lot of fast cutting.
Still, I will admit I have become very bored watching some of the fights (actually, I think many of the fights in newer shows, like Kamen Rider Kabuto, are very boring too) and I don't deny that people might be bored watching the fight scene we did for the same reasons I found it boring in the actual show.
I'm going to re-shoot some parts of the fight scene this Saturday to make it more interesting. I'm trying to get choreography done ahead of time, but it is difficult because many of the actors have, uh, "lives". I've found it very difficult to get more than 2 people to be in the same place at the same time. I want to have a scene where five ninjas attack GKaiser all at once, and I do want that scene choreographed.
Consider it a work in progress, because it is ^^
Someone said the sword reminded them of Cloud from FF7 though, so I think I'll give the butterfly ninja a limit break move. I am also thinking I'll add some digital sparks to the sword when it hits the ground. I also aquired a small portable trampoline today and I'll bring that with me to the park.
I wanna know where to get that sword from.
Every prop or costume you see in the show was made or modified from something else. I didn't make the sword, but I know it was made from spraypaint, wonderflex and (judging from how much it hurt when I did get clipped by it) plywood wood.
I will say this though. You have to really respect the guys who do the fight scenes for a living. I wasn't in costume very long until sweat was just pouring out from my helmet and into my eyes, really obscuring my vision. The glasses kept fogging up between takes. I do kickboxing almost every day, and I don't usually get as many huge bruises as I got doing this fight scene (all the rolling around, getting hit by a big wooden sword, etc). I thought it was pretty fun, but looking back it was a lot of work and preparation to get to this stage, and it is a lot of work to do the actual filming. But I really enjoy it, and I'd be lucky to do something like this for a living. I just got to get better at producing good results.
