Jem Theme Song Metal Version Released by Hasbro

I can't believe they're giving the Jem theme a metal twist! That's such a bizarre yet fascinating mash-up. I loved Jem as a kid, and hearing it with hard rock vibes sounds like it could be a total game changer. It kinda reminds me of what they did with the DuckTales theme a few years back, but this feels even more nostalgic.

I'm curious to see how they balance the iconic parts with those heavy riffs. Anyone else planning to check it out when it drops next week?

I really want is a proper animated revival similar to X-Men '97. Keep the original continuity, bring back the characters people already love, let them grow older, and tell new stories without pretending the old series never happened. Jem already had secret identities, rival bands, music industry drama, and Synergy. There is plenty to work with. I think that approach would have a much better chance of winning over longtime fans than another live-action reboot. This new theme song proves there is still interest in the franchise. Now give me an animated continuation that respects what came before instead of constantly starting from scratch. I'd watch that immediately.

I had to stop and look this up because I thought Cold Slither was still just a joke band from G.I. Joe. The fact that Hasbro turned them into a real thing and then had them cover the Jem theme is such a strange decision that somehow makes sense. I actually like that they did not just copy the original note for note. If they are bringing Jem back, I would rather see them try something different instead of selling nostalgia in the safest way possible. I grew up around metal, so the heavier sound works for me. I just hope the upcoming live-action series understands why people liked Jem in the first place and does not treat the music like an afterthought.

This is probably the most unexpected crossover Hasbro has done in a while. G.I. Joe military guys standing around while Jem performs on a base sounds like fan fiction, yet here we are. I laughed when I first read it, but after hearing the song, I understood what they were going for. It is fun. Not everything needs to be serious or carefully planned. Sometimes companies should be allowed to do weird projects because fans end up getting something memorable out of it.

I am a Misfits fan, so I am still annoyed they got pushed aside. The whole point of that section of the theme was showing the competition between the bands. Replacing them with Cold Slither changes the dynamic a bit too much for my taste. I do not hate the song. The guitars sound good and the energy is there. I just think the original rivalry deserved more respect. If Jem really is making a comeback, I want The Misfits involved too because they were half the fun.
