Is Class Of 3000 Coming Back?

When places enter a slump, they look to the past. Lately Cartoon Network, or what’s left of it, has been planning revivals of the shows it aired when it was on top of the world. New versions or spinoffs of Adventure Toime, Regular Show, Powerpuff Girls and others are currently in the works. But what about…Class of 3000? That might sound strange, as that particular series debuted during a different Slump Age in CN’s history, a time when Disney Channel was eating their lunch and they were responding with stuff like Johnny Test and Squirrel Boy. It was the hope that the star power attached to Class of 3000 — the personal involvement of musician Andre 3000 — would attract attention. It didn’t and the show ended at two seasons with just a handful of episodes. So bringing this particular show back would seem like an odd move. But if you ask Andre himself, like a recent podcast did, there is some movement toward it. Andre told Nardwuar the Human Serviette that he’s been in talks with Tyler The Creator (who previously created Loiter Squad and The Jellies for Adult Swim) about reviving Class Of 3000. ‘I know all the […]

Class of 3000 was such a hidden gem! I remember watching it and loving the whole music theme that Andre 3000 brought to the show. It was refreshing to see a kids’ cartoon that actually incorporated so much cool music knowledge and different genres. I honestly didn’t expect it to come back, especially since it wasn’t a huge hit when it aired. But I’m definitely curious to see how Tyler, The Creator would handle a revival. If he can bring that same creative energy to the project, it might actually work. If anything, it’ll be fun to see Andre 3000 back in the spotlight, even if just for this!

Is anyone else just surprised this is even being talked about? Class of 3000 wasn’t a massive hit, so the idea of bringing it back just feels random to me. But hey, if Andre and Tyler are behind it, I’m intrigued. Their connection to music is undeniable, so if they can make it more relevant to today’s pop culture, maybe it could work. I’m just curious about how it would compare to other revivals, especially when there’s such a huge variety of animated shows out there now.

I can appreciate the fact that shows like Class of 3000 hold a special place in many people’s hearts. It’s clear that the show didn’t get its due when it was on the air, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t have a second chance. If Tyler, The Creator can bring a fresh perspective to the show, it could be an interesting experiment.
