Hulu and Disney Plus will become one

I’m probably one of the few people who will miss Hulu as a standalone brand. I remember when it started and how different it felt. It gave me access to shows I couldn’t catch on TV anymore. While I agree this change makes sense for the new generation, I do feel a little sad. Hulu had an identity that was more edgy and adult-focused. Disney+ is great, but it always felt more polished and safe. I just hope the essence of Hulu doesn’t disappear completely. Please don’t erase everything that made Hulu different.

I’m so glad that Hulu finally merged into Disney+! This is something I’ve been waiting for, especially as an international viewer. I heard that Hulu will replace Star in international markets this fall—that’s huge! Star was good, but if we’re getting the full Hulu library instead, that’s an upgrade.

What I’m really hoping for is the return of 20th Century Fox classics. Back in 2021, Star had a lot of Fox’s older movies and TV shows from the 1920s to early 2000s, like The Mary Tyler Moore Show, MASH*, and those old noir films I love. If Hulu brings those back and adds even more to Disney+, that would be a dream for fans of classic cinema and television.

Also, without the Hulu brand being separate anymore, maybe this means fewer licensing restrictions. Disney owns all this content now, so why not just make it all available in one place? It would make Disney+ feel more like a complete entertainment hub, not just for kids and Marvel fans, but for people like me who enjoy older, historical content. I really hope this new version of Disney+ delivers on that promise.
