Player numbers were low and streamers stopped playing quickly. In modern gaming, if content creators lose interest, casual players follow. That is reality now. I think Wildlight misread the market. Hero shooters had their peak years ago. Overwatch already established the formula. To compete, you need a strong twist. Highguard had none. Also, communication matters. When a developer blames the audience, trust disappears. Trust is currency in live service games. Without trust, there is no community. I do not think the industry will collapse, but I do think budgets will shrink. Investors will be more careful. Maybe that is healthy in the long term.
