Has the Batman Who Laughs Become Overrated?

I've been thinking about the whole Batman Who Laughs phenomenon and how he exploded in popularity after his first appearance in "Dark Nights: Metal." At first, I loved the concept, the twisted version of Batman who embodies all the chaos of the Joker was such a unique idea. The blend of horror and superhero tropes gave us something genuinely fresh.

However, I've noticed that he's been cropping up everywhere lately, from main story arcs to one-shots and tie-ins. I can't help but wonder if he’s becoming a bit overexposed. The initial shock factor has worn off for me. It feels like the more we see him, the less impactful that original concept becomes.

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the character's complexity and the cool designs, but is he being used too much now? Are there other villains or concepts that deserve the spotlight instead? Or is my nostalgia just getting in the way of enjoying him as a regular part of the Batman universe?

What do you all think? Is the Batman Who Laughs still fresh and exciting, or has he overstayed his welcome? Would love to hear your thoughts!

I totally get where you’re coming from! I mean, the Batman Who Laughs had such a killer debut in "Dark Nights: Metal" #1, his design and backstory were just chef's kiss! But yeah, seeing him pop up in so many places does take away some of that edge. It felt like a fresh breath of chaotic air at first, but now he’s almost become the default villain for any dark storyline involving Batman, which kind of dilutes the impact.

I think part of the issue is that DC has a huge rogues gallery that gets overshadowed. Characters like Hush or even someone like The Court of Owls deserve more time in the limelight! What’s cool about the Batman universe is how deep and varied it is, so I’m all for seeing some different villains shake things up.

Do you have any specific characters you wish would get more attention? I’d love to see more of the classic villains get some new life!
