I think Capcom made the right call here. We've had decades of overpowered protagonists. Leon was cool, but you can only watch someone shoot monsters in the face without blinking for so long before it gets stale. Grace being scared of a bucket is not a weakness — it’s the point. Some players want immersion, others want the classic feel. Grace being emotional isn’t a flaw. As an artist, I think her expressions and body language show how far animation has come. We used to play with emotionless puppets. Now we get characters who visibly process fear. That’s progress.

Grace being a mess is kind of the point, right? Like, imagine trying to do your desk job on a Tuesday, then finding yourself in a haunted lab full of mold zombies. She’s us. The regular people. Not everyone has a knife holster stitched to their thigh. I think they’re doing something smart here. Besides, fear sells better when the player doesn’t feel invincible. I want to be scared again. Let Grace scream at the damn bucket. It works.
