I freaking hate race swapping. Why the hell Akuma is Samoan? And why the hell Dan Hibiki is a white guy? How many times Hollywood should learn that no one wants to see race swapping? Race swapping should be extinct. It should not exist.

Isn't it cool that the actress who played Nitara in Mortal Kombat is now playing Cami in Street Fighter, although I hope she have more dialogues this time around because in Mortal Kombat, I only remember her being split in half.

I am so tired of Noah Centineo being pushed into roles he does not fit. People even joke calling him Noah Scented Mayo, and honestly, that is how he feels in most movies: plain and forgettable. Ken Masters is supposed to have personality, confidence, and also a real cultural link. Ken is half Japanese in the games, and it would have made so much more sense to cast Darren Barnet instead. Darren is half Japanese himself, and he actually has the right mix of charm and toughness that Ken needs. Instead, we get Centineo again, who just does not look or feel like a martial artist. He might be okay in teen romance movies, but Street Fighter is not about looking cute and making awkward jokes. It is about fighters with history, discipline, and strong identities. I cannot understand why Hollywood keeps ignoring actors who are a better fit just to push someone who is already overexposed. Every time I see Centineo cast, it feels like lazy decision-making. This role was such a good opportunity to show respect to the character’s background, but they wasted it. If Darren Barnet had been cast, not only would he have brought real energy to the role, but fans would also see a Ken who feels authentic. Instead, we are stuck with Scented Mayo again.

I do not want to sound harsh, but when I look at the actress they picked for Chun-Li, she just feels too skinny for the role right now. Chun-Li is known worldwide for her powerful legs. She is not just a fighter with skill, she is a fighter with strength that you can see. If Callina Liang is serious about honoring the character, she should start focusing on squats and leg training immediately. I know people will say acting is more about performance, but physical presence matters a lot in a fighting movie. Chun-Li’s design has always been about speed and raw lower body power, and fans expect that image. Right now, Liang looks like she could play many different kinds of characters, but Chun-Li specifically requires that signature look. I am not saying she has to look cartoonish, but she should at least build a physique that matches the character’s fighting style. Thicc thighs are not just fan service, they are a symbol of Chun-Li’s strength and identity. In fact, her legs are as iconic as Ryu’s headband or Guile’s hair. If the filmmakers want fans to take this movie seriously, they need her to put in that work in the gym starting now.

I am really frustrated with some of these casting choices because they make no sense. Roman Reigns as Akuma is the biggest problem for me. Akuma is Japanese, he has a very specific look and cultural background. Roman is Samoan, and the only reason he probably got this role is because he is The Rock’s cousin and Hollywood loves that connection. It feels like pure nepotism, not respect for the character. Then we have Dan Hibiki suddenly called “Dan Hubiki”? Why did they change his name and make him Jewish when he is supposed to be Japanese? That is not only unnecessary, it is disrespectful to the original design.

And it does not stop there. Why did they decide Cammy is now half Thai? She has always been British in the games, so why rewrite her background? It feels like random diversity without logic. Then there is Vega — one of the most stylish Spanish characters in all of gaming history. Instead of casting an actual Spanish actor or at least someone with European background, they give him to a cowboy country singer. Orville Pectalks in southern twang. Vega is supposed to be elegant, arrogant, and unmistakably Spanish. Making him a masked country star just breaks the whole point of the character.

All of this shows me that the casting team did not care about accuracy. They went for stunt casting and connections instead of honoring the game’s roots. It makes me worried that this film will not feel authentic at all.

Honestly, seeing 50 Cent as Balrog made me laugh. But when I think about it, it could work. Balrog is a boxer, he has swagger, and he is intimidating. 50 Cent can bring that kind of energy, but I hope he does not play it too silly. If he keeps it grounded, this could actually surprise a lot of people.

So, they really went and cast a handsome actor as Dhalsim. I am not used to seeing Dhalsim presented this way, because in the games he is always this skinny, bald, almost monk-like figure with a very unique, not traditionally handsome design. Now we have Vidyut Jammwal, who is probably the most handsome Dhalsim has ever looked. He is a well-built martial artist, he has charm, and he is going to look completely different from the image most fans have in their heads. I do not know if that is a good thing or a bad thing yet. On one hand, it could bring more popularity to the character, because audiences might finally see Dhalsim as someone cool instead of just weird. On the other hand, it feels like they are completely changing his identity, just for the sake of putting a good-looking actor in the role. Dhalsim was never about beauty, he was about discipline, spirituality, and an unusual fighting style. Making him look like a Bollywood action hero takes away some of that unique identity. Still, I cannot deny this is the most attractive Dhalsim we have ever seen on screen. It is going to be very strange to watch him breathe fire and stretch his arms while also looking like a leading man.

No Juri Han, no buy. Simple as that. I am not giving a single peso for this movie because they left out the best character. Juri is my girl, she has the attitude, the style, the energy that makes Street Fighter actually fun to watch. But instead of giving us Juri, they throw in random filler characters nobody cares about. Who asked for Marvin? Who asked for Don Sauvage? Nobody. Yet here we are, with Juri completely ignored.

It feels like the studio does not even understand what fans want. Juri is one of the most popular fighters of the last decade, she has a massive fanbase, and she always ranks high in surveys. And still, they pretend she does not exist. That is insulting. I am not wasting money on some half-baked nostalgia trip where they only care about 90s characters. Street Fighter has grown since then, and Juri is proof of that.

They can enjoy empty theaters if they want. Until I see Juri Han on the big screen, they are not getting my ticket, they are not getting my money, and they are not getting my support. Juri Juri Han is my girl, and without her, this movie means nothing to me.

That change makes zero sense. And then there is Ken Masters. Yes, he is American, but part of his identity is being half Japanese. That cultural background connects him to Ryu and the martial arts world. Casting Noah Centineo, who has none of that, feels lazy and disrespectful.

When you take characters with clear origins and identities, and you change them for no reason, it breaks the entire spirit of the story. These are not just costumes and moves; their backgrounds matter. Akuma’s heritage is important to his philosophy. Dan’s parody only works because he is a wannabe Japanese martial artist. Ken’s mixed heritage is part of what makes his bond with Ryu unique. Stripping all that away makes it feel like the studio does not care about the source material.

I wanted to support this film, but with these changes, I cannot. This does not feel like Street Fighter anymore. It feels like another shallow Hollywood adaptation that ignores the roots of the characters.
