FansProject Shadow Commander armor for TF Classics Nemesis Prime

Black Version
A bit of background: while I like Transformers, I have very few of them because they don't really fit in with the rest of my collection. However, I started picking up various versions of Hot Rod/Rodimus/Rodimus Prime, partly because I like the character, partly because we named our red Honda Fit after him. I have grabbed a couple of other ones, though, all from the Classics/Universe/Henkei line, as I really like the designs. I also like the Binaltech line, but those are too expensive to fall into the "buy on a whim" category.

Anyway, I've always been a sucker for black versions of stuff, so after I vacillated over whether to get Optimus Prime or Convoy, I finally said "screw it" and got Nemesis Prime from hasbrotoyshop.com. I was really pleased with the figure, except for the fact that his right arm is loose in the shoulder joint, so he can't really hold a pose with it. Alas.

Nemmy looks badass and all, but when Fansproject announced they were going to do a new version of their Classics Ultra Magnus City Commander armor upgrade for Nemesis Prime, I knew I was going to have to get it.

I was not disappointed.

The attention to detail is insane. Not only is there a license plate sticker for the trailer, but it flips up to stay hidden in robot mode.

Nemmy with the trailer.

The trailer separates into individual pieces of armor.

Nemesis Prime armored up and ready to crush his enemies.

Or hack them to pieces with his Energon Sword.

ShadowCommander-09.avif
Or blow them all to hell with his BFG (the front of which flips up to make a rocket launcher mode, which I forgot to photograph). He's not picky, really.

In the armor, he towers above the other Voyager Class figures-- I should take a shot of him with Megatron.

At $90, the Shadow Commander upgrade is a pricey indulgence, but if you like Classics Nemesis Prime, it's a must-buy.

Bah, should've gotten the Ultra Magnus version when I had the chance...only problem with that though, is that I don't own any classics prime:shakefist
