Explain how this is too large

Forum signature limits are 500x165. That's fine and all, and yet this image gets removed?

450x165? And that merits a message that treats me like some kind of moron who can't follow a simple guideline??

If it happened only once, maybe not. However, considering that your Sig has had to be removed at least 3 or 4 times over the last 12 months for being too large might make some people wonder.

The image that was removed measured 203 pixels tall. It was not the same image that you have used in your screencap in the above post. If/When any staff member here does an "image-size check" and determines that a Sig exceeds the 500x165 size limit, that Sig will be removed without prejudice. Members don't always realize that their Sigs break the rules, but when they do, they will be removed.

If you are hosting all of your images on PhotoBucket, then make sure that the properly-sized Sig does not have the same filename as the oversized Sig. Doing so will cause PhotoBucket to just revert back to taking and using the old, oversized Sig from it's memory cache. Now this does not happen all the time, but it does happen quite often, as I learned first hand when it happened to a Sig that I wanted to use on another forum I frequent.

Simple solution has 2 steps:
1 - make sure that whenever you upload any image file to PhotoBucket, that they all have new/unique/different filenames that do not duplicate any filenames that any other of your files have had,

and

2 - once you have input your Sig coding into your user profile, make sure that you double-check the image's size in your actual posts to be sure that PhotoBucket (or whatever image hosting service you use) has not tweaked/enlarged them without you realizing it.

Three or four times this past year? That doesn't sound right to me as I don't believe I've changed my signature more than twice since my name-change, and the first time after that Keith reminded me about the height limit without the need to have one of those messages end up in my signature.

But I'll go ahead and accept that I was apparently mistaken, that I made some error and didn't actually link to my HJU-specific signature and used the one I use everywhere else instead. Thank you.

It's a mistake that can very easily go unnoticed (again, I speak from experience as it happened to me before). There have been a few other members here in the past that had the same thing happen to them without realizing it.

Yeah...that photobucket resizing thing has annoyed me to GREAT end when I've had a sig that was just a smidge too big and had to resize...then change the file name.
