E3 2007: Winners and Losers

My predictions:

1. Sony - They need to and they know it. After the butt kicking last year, I've a feeling they're going to put all their best into this show to blow away the competition.

2. Microsoft - This is their third cycle, they've been standing strong and I've a feeling they'll have plenty to show to remind people that they've got a damn good system to have with an impressive library.

3. Nintendo - Doubt they'll be able to pull it off twice. I've a feeling success will make them lazy and that they'll rely on the stuff people want to see, but are already coming anyway to "win" the day, but in the end will get a yawn. They'll have a bunch of kiddie games that they'll expect to wow us for some reason, non-games, and simply not care because they're earning mad sacks of cash-money anyway. I'm beting on Nintendo being the one to disapoint, but their DS showing to be impressive.

4. PC - Graphics that will wow you.

Hmm, interesting, but I see a few different points:

1. What buttkicking? They still have the console with the most sales (PS2), which saw strong titles like God of War 2. I would rather say the PS3 had a slow start.

2. LOL'ed at "a damn good system" ... 1/3 breaks down. Red rings of death, you know.

3. Wii will indeed be hard pressed to get the same 'wow' effect as last year. Especially since then they had the element of surprise which is pretty much gone now, but I still expect to see some strong titles.

4. agreed, just look at Crysis!

I dont feel as though Nintendo will come away strong with this one. They dont seem to have any surprise announcements, any game that will be shown are games we already know about and are patiently waiting for. (That's life with Nintendo, one big waiting game. Getting tired of it.)

I figure Sony and Microsoft are the biggest head to head contenders to walk away with a win. It's hard to predict. I dont sense as if Microsoft will have any major, surprise announcements. Sony has everything to gain so I'm sure they will have some surprise game showings.

PC is just same ol same ol. It will come out the same way it comes out in every event.

SONY's faltered to much with many fans not impressed with the PS3 which has really hurt SONY and you can tell with the drop of the 20 gig system and the price drop of the 60 to then announce "Oh look, we're doing an 80" which you know for the price tag of the 60 version, will only be purchased by hard core gamers.
Even with SONY's home program, I'm still not impressed with the direction they're taking their latest next gen and with the push back of so many great games that should of been released already....I just don't see why I should pick one up anytime soon.

Microsoft still outsold all the next gens even after 1 full year of being out in the market, if anyones gotten lazy it'll probably be them. I don't think Microsoft has much left to pull out of their hat after the launch of the l33t 360.
However, we need to get over this "red light of death", my system before I had to sell it to pay bills never had a single issue and the complaints have lowered. Don't forget PS3 had it's fair share of issues as well.

Nintendo though could still pull something off with new accessories and games in the works. Even though Pokemon Battle Revolution was the Wii's first Wi-Fi enabled game for internet play, it really only gave a small dose of what they could do.
Granted, the Nintendo is the weakest when it comes to next gen technology of the 360 and PS3, but still being one of the most difficult systems to get ahold of in some areas compared to the PS3's which are collecting dust....I say go Nintendo.

IMO i feel that Nintendo has reached its limit, even though their games are really fun to play, they seem to be very repatative (sp??). I don't own a Wii but from what i can see is that alot of the games are very similar and they should have more variety. I mean they have like 900 Mario games on it already. I'm not saying they should decrease it but they should concentrate and release other stuff as well, like what they did with Resident Evil 4 and COD3.

I'll be tuning in but through IGN.

I agree. Sony has everything to gain, they really have alot of great games yet they keep postponing them. I mean both MGS 4 and Killzone look sweet. Sony really needs to pull it off this time. As for Microsoft, they have alot of great games that i don't need to mention.

Microsoft? Yeah, that was boring as heck (though me and my friends had fun with the innuendo every now and then). Hopefully Nintendo's will be better.

PS3 from $600 to $500? come on :redface2: sure its reasonable for both sides, probably the best Sony could do, and people will be grateful for the $100 off, but if Sony really wants sales they should have made it $400, sales would at least double.

I have high hopes for MGS4, hopefully it'll be ported to the 360 like with VF5, since I can't afford a PS3 nor do I feel like buying a console for 3ish games XD

Nintendo better not announce another Zelda game and delay it for years and years :redface2:

Meh hopefully they'll release a 360 with HDMI Cables

In Europe, M$'s partner for repairs even refuses faulty Xbox360's now because they say the problems are inherent to the design. It's not about spinning it any which way, the numbers clearly show that the Xbox360 has a tremendous high failure rate (close to 30%) compared to the Wii and PS3 (each average to 1%). I'm not a fanboy but when problems arise because the design is faulty, there's no reason to hide it or embellish it. Wii and PS3 were better engineered, no question about it.
