Odd. I've always been told by the Chinese people I've met that there is no such thing as an actual spoken language called "Chinese", and that what most westerners think of as the "Chinese" language that they hear is usually either "Mandarin" or "Cantonese".
The written characters are a different story, as I've been told that those are largely universal regardless of the dialect being spoken.
You're more than likely right, JFC. But for simplification, it's just easiest to say Chinese cuz I can't tell if I'm listening to Cantonese or Mandarin.
Good god, did it deserve it. But the graphic sex in it tells a story. Reveals layers of character. The movie is incredible and devistating. It haunted my dreams last night.
Listening to it, it's just hard to pick out words. I just wondered if people around here that might have seen much more Chinese programming might understand it as much as they understand Japanese or is the Chinese language more difficult to pick up than others.
