Charles Martinet Steps Down From Voicing Mario

Charles Martinet may have the most recognizable voice in all of video games — he’s the one who gets to voice Mario. Until Nintendo discovered him in the early 90s, most of Mario’s speaking roles were in cartoons and non-canon CD-I games, and he was usually imagined to have a gruff, low Brooklyn plumber voice. That all changed with the release of Super Mario 64 and Martinet’s peppy “It’s-a me, Mario!” greeting players every time they turned the game on.

Hey, you know what crossed my mind? I can't help but wonder if there's more to Charles Martinet's departure from Mario's voice. I mean, have you noticed that the movie Mario didn't have that classic Italian accent either? Could this be the start of a new direction, like, being all "politically correct" and stuff? It's like that Brooklyn plumber charm is fading away. Who knows, maybe we're headed for a Mario without his signature accent in the future, all because of the "wokeness" wave. Things might just be getting a tad too PC. ???

Wait, wait, wait! Charles Martinet hanging up Mario's voice? That's like trading in your favorite game for a new one. His "It's-a me, Mario!" was the stuff of legends. Wonder if the new voice actor can match the nostalgia. This Mario Ambassador gig sounds intriguing though. Let's see what's next in the Mushroom Kingdom

Charles Martinet saying goodbye to Mario's voice? That's like changing up the winning team. His "It's-a me, Mario!" was like a gaming anthem. Wonder who's gonna fill those shoes now. Hope they don't mess it up, you know? Mario without that voice is gonna be like pizza without cheese

No way! Charles Martinet leaving the Mario crew? That's like my childhood getting a remix. His energetic Mario was like a friend I never met. Wonder why he's hangin' up the hat. Hope the new voice can capture the magic, but it won't be the same. "It's-a me..." won't be the same. Good luck, Martinet!
