Hey, Cmoneyspinner! I think it’s cool that Cinema Escapist is focusing on the cinematic connections globally. Korean dramas have really been gaining traction over the past few years, and it’s fascinating to see how they’re being appreciated outside of Korea now. I'm curious about what makes their films stand out in comparison to Popgeeks’ take. Did any specific dramas from 2025 catch your eye? I’m always on the lookout for recommendations, especially when they come with a unique perspective!

Study Group is so underrated in real life but 8.2 here feels right. The mix of school life and secret fighting is addictive. I rooted for the main guy the whole time. Bon Appétit Your Majesty is hilarious, the modern chef in old Joseon cracks me up every episode. Mercy for None is dark and heavy, good if you want something intense. I’m glad they included lighter ones like Love Scout too. The whole list covers different tastes. I’ll probably use this to pick what to watch next.

I follow both Cinema Escapist and PopGeeks, and I can see the difference clearly. CE feels more polished and international, while PopGeeks feels more like fans talking to other fans. For 2025, I actually agree with putting When Life Gives You Tangerines at the top. A 9.1 rating is not easy to get. The story sounds emotional but also realistic, which I prefer over flashy plots. I am also happy to see Study Group on the list because that drama had a strong youth energy and action mix. However, I think Tempest being included with a 6.7 rating is questionable. That score is not very strong compared to others. If this is a “best” list, I expect higher standards. Overall, CE seems to focus more on variety of genres, while PopGeeks usually gives more detailed opinions.

Resident Playbook caught my attention because first-year residents stories are relatable. Everyone starts somewhere. Medical training is intense, so there is natural drama without forcing it. An 8.0 rating is fair. I also think Study Group represents youth struggles in a different way. Protecting classmates while trying to study shows social pressure in schools. I appreciate that this list includes both adult and teenage perspectives. CE looks organized, but I hope they also consider long-term impact, not just current ratings. Sometimes a drama grows in popularity later. I compare lists, but I still check viewer comments before watching.

When Life Gives You Tangerines is a masterpiece, the emotions stay with you long after. I also really liked Beyond the Bar, the lawyer stuff feels smart and the main character fights for what’s right without being annoying. Tempest disappointed me a bit, too much talking and not enough action for a thriller. Our Unwritten Seoul was emotional but the ending felt rushed. Still, I appreciate the high ratings for the romance-heavy ones. Makes me excited for more K-dramas this year

I watch a ton of K-dramas and this list matches what I enjoyed in 2025. Trauma Code is intense, the surgery scenes are realistic and stressful in a good way. The Trauma surgeon character is tough but caring, perfect lead. Study Group is my guilty pleasure, funny and exciting at the same time. When Life Gives You Tangerines is the clear winner though, nothing comes close to that level of storytelling. Mercy for None is solid revenge but nothing new. Overall I like how balanced the picks are. Thanks for sharing this comparison.

This list feels overhyped. When Life Gives You Tangerines at 9.1 is fair, but the nostalgia hits hard only if you like slow family stories. For me it dragged in the middle. Tempest at 6.7 is actually generous—it was boring most of the time, too much talking about politics and not enough real tension. Mercy for None tries to be gritty but the revenge plot is the same as every other gangster drama. I expected better from Cinema Escapist. Study Group is fun but the school fights get repetitive fast. Resident Playbook copies Hospital Playlist too much without adding anything new. Only Bon Appétit Your Majesty felt fresh. The rest? Average at best.

The Art of Negotiation is way too high at 7.8. It’s just people in suits arguing about money for 16 episodes. No heart, no real stakes. I fell asleep twice. Tempest should be even lower—the conspiracy reveal was weak and the ambassador character was flat. Mercy for None has cool fights but the story makes no sense after episode 8. When Life Gives You Tangerines is the only one worth the hype here. The others feel like they were picked to fill space. Cinema Escapist usually does better. This 2025 list is disappointing compared to their older ones

Kdrama world is loaded with addicts and I enjoy making comparisons. Strangely … Love Scout and Beyond the Bar have the lowest ratings. But I liked them the most.
