Bandai Entertainment leaves NA Anime Market

If funi ever picks up gundam x, they better get vic mignonga to play garoad. Hed be perfect for him. Id also like roy mustangs voice as jamil.

Other than bandai leaving, it is a major bummer. For the longest time, i refused to believe anime is dead in america but this news wants to almost make me believe in that

Damn, I was waiting for their Turn A Gundam release...who knows when we're going to get it in North America now? :(

So, does this mean that the original Mobile Suit Gundam series with the optional Japanese Audio will not be fully released or what?

So yeah, everything coming after Feb. 2012 is canned (including future episodes of Gundam Unicorn and Turn A) and they are leaving the North American market because (it seems like) the licencor's want Japanese style premium pricing on their stuff over here, but since people only buy the cheap DVD's/BD's, sales have been in the toilet.

Though, anything that is currently in print will stay that way until the licence expires.

Me thinks more anime companies are just gonna put English Sub's on the JPN set's and make people import them to make their foreign monies, since they would make more cash that way (They would get the all the proceeds from sales rather than just a cut from a licencee).

Guess they want no money at all. And they wonder why people outside Japan bootleg their shows. Perhaps they would have more sales if they DUBBED them and pushed them on foreign tellies .

People don't give a damn about shows that they do not know about and they should know. Anime was rare and save for the few shows, they pulled the same **** with their top series back in the era called the 80's. No one knew and thus, no one cared. Now let's take a trip into the 90's. DBZ and Sailor Moon open up the anime industry while Gundam and Evangelion opens up the territory for Shonen works abroad.

They are just killing themselves in the long run pulling themselves out of the foreign markets ,acting like it's sooo valuable. Well guess what, there's no value to things that do not exist in the minds and hearts of foreign markets. They need to get their heads out of their asses and realize that they are in the same position they were 30 years ago . It's pathetic almost. They need to appeal to the global market, not just their isolated market which brings not much revenue in comparison.

Bandai Ent. sucked anyways so I don't care if they pull out of the market. Overpriced and horrible dubbing , the worst combination imaginable. To those who bemoan dubs, do you really want to read your shows and films? I don't mind it ,but for many Americans it's ridiculous. Live action save for kids shows I can see subbing , but this is why America remakes foreign films for better or worse.

How about they sit and think for a moment. How about they concentrate their efforts at releasing and dubbing their titles themselves like Toei and try their efforts at distributing it themselves? How about they consider the digital market and price competitively to actually profit off the internet's power. Look at legit torrents and iTunes and Netflix. All that's needed is for them to actually get their shows onto the small screens at reasonable times. Even their mature anime series as well.
