Bandai Asia Question

Okay, so I know that the Bandai Asia Fang has the same sounds as the Japanese one (we won't touch the Stag Phone issue at the moment), but do all BA DX toys have the Japanese sounds?

I found what I believe may be a Bandai Asia Gokai Gun (low price even though it's new, selling from Taiwan), and I want to make sure that it'll have the right sound before I buy it.

Generally yes though there have been some cases where the Asia release of certain items have been plagued with QC problems. I can remember the Asia release of the DX Shodophone being so quiet you could hardly make out what they were saying. I am not familiar with any problems plaguing the Gokai Gun so buy at your own risk but the sounds are in fact the same.

I like to correct the statements:

According to Hong Kong laws and regulations, all toys in a Hand phone shape need to be regulated on the sound volume. Hong Kong govt saying kids putting loud phones at their ears and make them deaf.

The other stuffs should be no problem.
I got the Asia import of the Gokai sets and only Mobirates had the problem.
The others are wayyy ok so no worries.

People have been buying the Fang Memory Asia reissue and no problems as well.

There are generally two different releases for Bandai Asia toys for both Super Sentai and Kamen Rider.

First, Bandai Asia distribution of Bandai Japan toys. Everything about the toys are the same as both are released at the same time in both Japan and Asia. The only difference is a Bandai Asia sticker usually stuck on the back or the side of the packaging for the Bandai Asia distribution.

Second, is a re-release of the same toys when the particular Kamen Rider or Super Sentai series is broadcast in Asia, usually 2-3 years after the original Japanese and Bandai Asia distribution. In the case of Super Sentai, the quality really depends as even the lower quality Bandai of America toys are mixed into it. Molds for robots is the same as the original release but the plastic quality may sometimes be of a lower quality. Sounds-wise they retain their original Japanese sounds.

It is not so much a QC problem but a deliberate move by Bandai Asia to comply with regional toy safety standards. New releases of handphone transformation items like the Shodophone and the Mobirates have their noise volume lowered so that the loud noise do not harm the children's ears when they put it to their ear when they play it as a handphone. As a rule of thumb, only handphone-like toys with sounds will be affected by the enforcement of lower volume.

Well said zogu and redracer2004! However, regarding about the second point you said on the re-releases zogu is not 100% true. Especially the mixing US releases into the batch. The re-releases (especially items now) are mainly based on the Japanese release. So quality is not lower; and they simply use the same mold IF they need to manufacture additional items. Tweaking the item maybe another story though.

There always has been a stereotype for Banda Asia DX items claiming it's lower in standard or even quality compared to the Japanese release. This is completely ridiculous; since there are all based on the same mold & material other then the tweaking aspect. It's even cheaper in comparison to the Japanese imports too!

Also I'm not sure about the safety standards reach. I don't see any problems with my Faiz Driver (HK release), it's as loud as hell. Same goes for the Stag Phone, Beetle Phone, my customers have purchased from me. They all seem to match the Japanese release.

Sorry, I meant the other way round - especially if the country broadcast Power Rangers instead of Super Sentai. In Singapore at least, we got a Japanese Shodophone repackaged as the Samurizer along with Japanese Rekka Daizantou, Water Arrow and Wood Spear set instead but got the Bandai of America mecha. The Japanese 6 inch ranger tagged vinyls from Japan are repackaged in a Power Ranger box since from Jungle Fury.

Thanks for the help, guys!

*goes to place order for Gokai Gun, will now have her complete arsenal*
