A Year of Governmental Eff-Ups (Hurricane Katrina discussion)

So, it's been a year since Hurricane Katrina devestated several portions of the southern United States.

I don't know about you guys but I know several people who were severely affected by the disaster and I even had contact with a few people who were forced to move into this area due to their homes being completely gone. It was some crap, let me tell you.

The government still refuses to take blame for what essentially was a giant, huge **** up in which they had no plans to deal with what happened, seemed to have no idea that such a thing could happen (although when the sea level's here: - and the city's here: _ you'd think that there would be some type of contingency for flooding).

It was a black mark on our government's ability to deal with crisis, and something I still feel ashamed of in regards to the government's inability to react to the situation.

I feel for everyone who was affected by the hurricane and wish them all the best, and all the hope that they can one day have a semblance of normal life.

Glad I had the chance to post before this thread got locked. I blame the federal, state, and local gov'ts for Katrina. Especially the N.O. Mayor, who is a smug son-of-a-gun. It's like Carlos Mencia said after the mayor made his 'chocolate New Orleans' speech. I'm paraphrasing here, but:

"Black ppl say they want to be a part of rebuilding New Orleans. But what they MEAN is they want to help re-DESIGN it, not re-BUILD it. They want the Hispanics to rebuild it. But you know what, black ppl? We're not gonna let you run the city once it's rebuilt. Know why? Two reasons: Detroit, and Oakland."

I'll let JC decide if he wants to keep this thread open or not.
I'm not to sure about where we draw the line on political debates on the boards.

All I'm going to say right now is...
KEEP IT CIVILIZED!!!!

I know...I don't mean you're trying to start stuff. But threads on politics can go south in a hurry and generally are not allowed on messageboards. But we're a little different here, so again, I'm gonna let JC decide.
