What do you get when you combine a natural disaster film with a prison breakout adventure and throw some killer alligators into the mix? The answer is The Flood, arriving on digital and on demand from Saban Films on July 14th.

The Flood put me on an exciting sequences that reminded me of the independent action movies I used to rent. The ideal blend of action, horror, and humor kept me captivated throughout the film's runtime, reminding me of the surprises I used to find on video rental store shelves. The images and promotion centered on computer-generated alligators, but rather of instilling fear, they provided a continual backdrop of tension and playful dread.

One aspect of The Flood that stood out was the unexpected cage match between the Sheriff, played by Nicky Whelan, and a tag team of hulking prisoners. It was an exhilarating and badass moment that showcased Whelan's character in a whole new light.
Nicky Whelan's portrayal of the Sheriff in The Flood was simply outstanding. Her tough and dedicated character had to handle a group of unruly prisoners seeking refuge from a hurricane in her small town jail. I admired how she effortlessly put them in their place whenever they stepped out of line

I must commend director Brandon Slagle for masterfully blending various elements of thriller, action, and direct-to-video entertainment in The Flood. The film felt both familiar and surprising, keeping me on the edge of my seat as I never knew what would happen next. Nicky Whelan's strong performance as the hero with a badge provided the necessary grounding for the story.

While I had high hopes for The Flood, I was left dissatisfied. The idea of alligators vs. officers and inmates in a flooded jail during a hurricane seemed exciting, but the complicated premise hampered the overall execution. It's a shame because there was potential for B-movie entertainment, but it got lost in the shuffle.

The Flood attempted to imitate the success of films such as Crawl, but it fell short of delivering an intriguing tale. Sheriff Jo Newman's attempt to manage a leaking police station in the midst of a hurricane, combined with the sudden arrival of dangerous criminals, had the potential for intense violence. However, the picture became distracted by needless subplots, putting the threat of alligators on the sidelines for the majority of the running time.

This is why Florida and Australia have population control for Gators and crocs.

The Flood had a dedicated cast, with actors like Casper Van Dien and Nicky Whelan giving it their all. Their commitment and attempts to inject depth into stock characters were commendable because it looks physically challenging and demanding.

I loved this movie! The concept of alligators menacing a flooded Louisiana jail during a hurricane was executed with intensity and suspense. The film kept me on the edge of my seat, as the characters faced not only the ferocious creatures but also their own internal conflicts. The performances, particularly by Nicky Whelan and Casper Van Dien, were captivating and brought depth to their respective roles. The Flood succeeded in delivering a pulse-pounding action-horror experience that left me thoroughly entertained.

I appreciate The Flood's attempt to emphasize the human element in the face of the alligator threat. The Flood was a really cool movie that mixed different genres together. It had action, horror, and even some dramatic moments. I liked how they focused on the conflicts between the people stuck in the flooded jail, it made the story more interesting. The alligators were scary, but they also represented the characters' fears and stuff. Overall, it was a fun movie with great action and a cool twist on the creature feature genre.
