G4 Revival Calls It Quits In Just One Year

There are times when you can smell a project’s failure before it even starts — barely anyone I knew was excited for Google Stadia or even thought it stood a chance, and lo and behold, it spun in last month. Then there’s G4 — the original incarnation died because the world was changing, and it’s only changed more drastically since then. Would gamers be enthusiastic about a cable network in the 2020s just as they were in the 2000s? At a time when cable is in decline overall? We would have bet “no” and we would have won the bet.
It’s unclear why, but Comcast announced they had decided to revive G4 in 2020, and in October of 2021, the channel went back on the air for most expanded cable subscribers. Several of the original shows were revived such as Attack of the Show and X-Play, along with new content like esports and the Japanese series Ninja Warrior.

It could have been a mistake to target gamers if that is who you are trying to attract. One person can do so much damage that it forces the company to shut down. Who could have predicted this? Frosk's unmatched efforts to eliminate any hope of a revival for this show will forever be remembered.

G4's demise was likely ensured by Frosk even if she wasn't the sole cause. They were doomed from from point on; the closure was unavoidable. It's frightening that the layoffs and shutdown happened so quickly after each other rather than all at once.

You should always expect your staff to take responsibility for their actions, and here is a perfect example of why. They could have prevented a lot of harm to the network or at least lessened its impact if they had fired her after her diatribe.

They may have achieved meteoric success in 2013 had they switched to YouTube instead of not giving up on television. There was a void in the content market that was quickly filled by Content Creators between their departure and subsequent attempts to reinvigorate the industry.

When G4 first came out, I was a big fan of it. Finding out that they were making a comeback was met with an enthusiastic "oh cool, that should be fun!" from me. But then there was the Frosk incident. Regardless of the cost of breaking a contract to fire her, she should have been let go immediately after the occurrence. So they kept her, and she continued her internet antics to this day. Even while Adam had also stated some really vile things online, he seemed to keep that material apart from his G4 involvement. Even so, I probably would have dismissed him for the sake of appearances, but that's just me.

The old G4 was my favorite show and I really miss it. Once upon a time, there was Olivia Munn, Tina Wood, Laura Foy, Morgan Webb, Blair Butler, and Scot Rubin. Prior to Frosk's diatribe, I was unaware that G4 had returned, and prior to this, I had never heard of her. The return of a popular brand was ruined by the actions of a lone consumer.

I couldn't get enough of the fresh start they'd been given. Until Frosk came along and basically destroyed the fan base. Worse yet, G4 did not defend us when we were attacked. Instead, they decided to support Frosk and feature her heavily in future works. WTF. They were fools to believe their audience would continue watching after being treated so disrespectfully.
