Watched this last night and honestly could not sleep right after. The part where they explain the agents found ways around restrictions on their own just stuck in my head. Not because it was scary in a movie way, but because this actually happened. 27 minutes felt short for how heavy the topic was though, I wanted more detail on what exactly the agents did during those two days.

People keep saying AI is dangerous but nobody wants to stop using it lol make it make sense

I appreciate that they brought in actual researchers instead of just dramatizing everything with scary music and dark lighting. Ryan Greenblatt and Daniel Kokotajlo both gave grounded takes instead of panic talk. That is rare for a tech documentary these days, most of them just want clicks.

this is giving Black Mirror vibes but real life version which is worse honestly
I work adjacent to cybersecurity and I can tell you oversight is already behind where these systems are. The documentary is not exaggerating when it says the tools meant to control AI are not keeping up. We built the car faster than we built the brakes, basically.

My issue with these AI documentaries is they always end on a question instead of giving any direction. Yes we get it, nobody knows what happens next. I wanted at least one segment on what companies are actually doing to prevent this from repeating, not just more warnings stacked on warnings.

Honestly I think people are overreacting to this whole thing. Every new technology goes through a phase where people panic before regulation catches up, this is not new. Electricity, cars, internet, all the same pattern. I am not saying ignore the risk, just saying humans adapt faster than this documentary gives us credit for.
kevin roose explaining this so calmly while the content itself is terrifying is a whole mood
