XBox XP sounds like a fascinating venture, especially with how gaming IPs have such rich stories to pull from. However, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed that they're diverting focus from game development, which is where their strength really lies. I love the potential for adaptations, but if it comes at the cost of innovative gaming experiences, that doesn't sit right with me.

I get why Xbox wants to make movies and TV shows, because Fallout and Minecraft have already shown that these adaptations can bring new players to the games. But I don't understand cutting game studios and then investing more money into expanding the brand. The games should be the main attraction. Movies and merchandise should support them, not replace the work needed to keep the gaming side healthy. I would rather see Xbox invest in new games that could eventually become successful movie franchises. That would give them something fresh to sell instead of relying on the same few properties.

Honestly, I think Microsoft is looking at the success of other entertainment companies and wants a bigger piece of the money. That's understandable, but they need to remember what made Xbox popular in the first place.

I want to see more Xbox games get made before the company starts worrying about attractions, merchandise, and Hollywood partnerships. There are so many games that could become great movies or shows if Microsoft gave their developers enough time and money. Imagine getting a new original franchise that becomes a hit on television and then brings people into gaming. That would be much more exciting than watching Xbox stretch its existing franchises even further.

Microsoft really looked at its gaming division and thought, "You know what this needs? More Hollywood." 😂

I understand making movies because Fallout proved there is an audience for these adaptations. However, the company still needs people to make the actual games. You cannot keep cutting development teams and expect the remaining franchises to carry the entire brand forever.

My bigger concern is that Xbox XP will become another expensive corporate project that produces merchandise and announcements but does little for gamers. I hope I am wrong. If they can make quality movies and shows while also supporting their game studios, then fine. Give me a great Halo series, a good Gears of War movie, and some new games to play.

But if this becomes another excuse to focus on everything except games, I don't see why longtime Xbox fans should be excited.
