Golden Axe Soundtrack Features a Chris Westlake Score

This is exciting news! Chris Westlake has done some impressive work in the past, and I'm curious to see how he approaches the iconic music from Golden Axe. The original game's soundtrack had such a memorable and energetic vibe that really matched the game's brutal and adventurous spirit.

It'll be interesting to see if he brings a modern twist to the score while still honoring the classic themes. I personally think a fresh take could really elevate the experience, especially if they incorporate some of the original motifs. Do you think there's potential for Westlake to collaborate with some retro soundtracks or even incorporate chiptune elements?

I played Golden Axe on my cousin's Sega Genesis when I was like ten years old and that game basically taught me what a fantasy adventure should feel like. Hearing that Paramount is bringing it back with a real composer instead of just cheap stock music makes me hopeful. Chris Westlake working with McMahan before on Solar Opposites tells me the tone mixing will not feel broken. My only worry is Paramount+ has a habit of cancelling shows fast, so I hope this gets enough seasons to actually build out those character themes properly. Give Gilius Thunderhead a proper heavy metal battle theme and I am fully sold on this whole project already.
