Been waiting for Baba Yaga content that actually respects the source instead of turning her into a cartoon villain. The fact they are calling this a feminist antihero story makes me hopeful they will keep the moral ambiguity intact instead of flattening her into good or evil. Carrie-Anne Moss as the professor with hidden depths sounds like perfect casting, she has always been good at playing characters who hold secrets behind calm expressions. Eight episodes feels like a good length for a mystery like this, not stretched thin. My only worry is if the folklore elements get watered down for a general audience instead of staying true to how strange and layered the original stories are.

Noah Reid doing a dark mystery thriller is not what I expected after Schitt's Creek but honestly good for him branching out. Curious if he brings any of that dry comedic timing into a serious role or plays it completely straight.

Hudson Williams going from hockey romance to missing heir in a supernatural thriller is a big jump. Hope he pulls it off.

Small coastal town plus old folklore plus a disappearance, this combination rarely fails to hook me. Adding to watchlist already.

Okay but why does every mystery show need a missing rich kid as the plot starter. Feels overused at this point but I will still watch it for the Baba Yaga angle since that mythology is so underused in western shows.

Carrie Anne Moss deserves more leading roles honestly, she has been doing scene stealing supporting work for years and this professor role sounds like it could finally give her something meaty to chew on.

This sounds like a slow burn kind of show, the kind where you need patience for things to connect. Not complaining, some of the best shows work that way.

Reading that Baba Yaga is a guardian of the forest and not just a witch who eats children reminds me how western adaptations usually strip away the complexity of these older legends. Hoping this one does not do the same thing and actually lets her be dangerous and wise at once.


Watching this purely for Hudson Williams, loved him in Heated Rivalry and want to see what he does with something less romantic and more unsettling.
