I'm really excited about Lanterns, especially since it's diving deeper into the Green Lantern mythos. I love the idea of exploring characters like Hal Jordan and John Stewart in a more serialized format. The first five minutes being released is a great way to build hype, but I'm kind of bummed to hear that there won't be as many follow-ups as many of us thought. I really hope they find a way to keep the momentum going, as the potential for stories in the Lantern Corps is huge. What are you hoping to see from this series? More cosmic adventures, or character-driven plotlines?

Aaron Pierre looks strong as John Stewart. The flashback with the dad forcing him to stand against the wall is disturbing but it also tells me a lot about why John grows up the way he does. That is smart writing if they keep building on it. I am a bit sad to hear Waller and Paradise Lost got cancelled though, because I was looking forward to more Suicide Squad connection. Still, if Lanterns performs well this weekend, maybe the studio gains confidence again and greenlights new shows. I just hope they do not rush the pacing to save money after the Supergirl numbers scared everyone. Quality over quantity please.

Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan is casting I did not expect but honestly it works for me. He has that steady, confident energy from Friday Night Lights that fits an experienced Green Lantern showing a rookie the ropes. The gun scene with the apple felt uncomfortable to watch, not going to lie, but I think that discomfort is the point they wanted us to feel.

Two shows cancelled before even getting a pitch meeting is not a good sign for DC right now. Catwoman and Poison Ivy sound like easy wins on paper, so something else must be going on behind the scenes. Maybe budget cuts, maybe nervous executives after recent box office numbers. Either way, this whole universe feels shaky before it even gets going properly.

I clicked the teaser just for Kyle Chandler honestly, everything else is a bonus for me right now.


The garage scene made me really uncomfortable, I do not care if it was the nineties or whatever era they say, shooting an apple off your kid's head as punishment is not normal parenting even in fiction. I get they want to show trauma shaping John Stewart but there are other ways to write that without making it look almost like a joke. I hope the show handles this kind of thing with more care going forward because right now it just feels shocking for the sake of being shocking, not because it serves the story in a meaningful way.

Booster Gold still being alive is honestly the only good news in this whole article for me. Everything else sounds like the DC universe getting smaller before it even starts.

I think people are overreacting about the cancelled shows already. Development gets shuffled around all the time in this industry, that does not automatically mean the whole universe is failing. James Gunn clearly has a plan, and sometimes cutting weaker pitches early is actually a sign of good management, not panic. Poison Ivy and Catwoman shows could come back later in a different form anyway. Let us wait and see how Lanterns actually performs with real audiences before deciding everything is falling apart. Five minutes of footage online is not enough data to predict box office numbers or streaming success either. I would rather judge this after the full season airs.
