It's wild to think about how Masters of the Universe was such a big deal back in the day, but the movie just didn't hit the same way. I remember watching it on late-night TV, cringing at some of the choices, but loving the nostalgia rush. It's got that campy charm that really speaks to a certain crowd, and I guess it makes sense to give it another shot on home video. I wonder if they'll include any new bonus features or behind-the-scenes stuff that could give fans more insight into its production. What do you think? Honestly this doesn't surprise me at all. So many superhero and IP movies coming out at the same time this year, people are tired of it. I skipped this one too because I thought it would be another forgettable reboot. But seeing 86% on Rotten Tomatoes makes me curious now. I might actually rent it when it comes on Blu-ray instead of paying for theater tickets. Sometimes movies need time to find their real audience, especially when marketing does not do a good job showing what the movie is really about.

I remember watching the old cartoon as a kid, so this news makes me a little emotional. Fifteen years separation storyline in the movie kind of matches how long it feels since we got a good adaptation of this franchise. I am planning to buy the steelbook edition because I collect those, doesn't matter if the movie flopped in theaters. Home video numbers can be very different from box office anyway, lot of people wait for streaming or physical release before deciding.

$113 million sounds like a disaster but production budget probably ate most of that money. Studios need to stop assuming nostalgia alone sells tickets.

I actually watched this with low expectations and had a good time. It was not perfect, but it respected the source material more than I expected. I think the biggest problem was timing. There are so many franchise movies every year that people just pick a few to watch. That does not always mean the movie itself is bad. Hopefully, Masters of the Universe can find a bigger audience through streaming and home release. Sometimes movies get a second chance when people finally watch them without all the noise around them.
