I actually remember when The Guild was one of the biggest things online. It came out before everyone started making web series, so I understand why Felicia Day wants to protect it. If studios kept asking her to change the characters or the tone, I would probably keep saying no too. Seeing the Kickstarter pass $1.5 million that quickly tells me there are still a lot of fans who never forgot about it. I also think using a ren faire instead of MMOs is a smart way to keep it current without pretending nothing has changed over the last twenty years.

I'm interested in the movie, but I'm even more interested in that anniversary Blu-ray. A lot of older web shows are hard to revisit because the videos were uploaded in different places over the years. Having everything collected with new content sounds like something longtime fans would appreciate. Physical releases also feel more special now because so many shows disappear when streaming licenses change.
